| dolphin4904-08-07, 03:27 PM | im learning about combos and wanted to see if this was ne good. manifest schism on round 1 round 2 cast Synchronicity as a swift action and twin power by giving up psycrystal focous augment so you dont have to designate an action to set off your action and now you can manifest 4 powers per round. cast your normal power, then manifest your schism power and then on your opponents turn use your 2 ready action to manifest 2 more power |
| Tempest Stormwind04-08-07, 03:41 PM | See the key under your right pinky? The one marked "Enter" or "Return"? It doesn't bite. Yes, we're aware of this. We're aware of REALLY CHEESY STUFF that makes this look like baby steps. For some real combo fun, try effects that aren't demonstratably broken (like Synchronicity). |
| dolphin4904-08-07, 04:00 PM | well im sorry but im a novice when it come to casting spells or manifesting powers. I've only been playing d&d for a little over a year and i always play mele classes, i have never studided spells or powers.i just discovered this combo last night. until your really understand how powers work you cant see all the less than obovious combos. when your new to something you always see the obovious things first then you find the hidden combos. it seems that you forget tempus that everyone on this board is not seasoned veterans of d&d. |

Besides the slightly condescending manner in which he "requested" a better formatted post, Tempest made no demeaning remarks on your discovery of this combo. He simply pointed out it had been found before and that there were much better ones out there (AKA answering the question you had asked). He did not talk down to you in regards to your DnD ability, so if you get offended at him please do it for the correct reason. |
| Tempest Stormwind04-08-07, 04:11 PM | I was trying to be witty; sarcasm doesn't translate over the internet very well. True, though -- barring my request for paragraphs, I did deal with your question. Yes, it had been found before. That is all. I did not insult you, nor your post, nor did I take offense with anything you wrote -- although it is Tempest, not Tempus. One's an alternative word for storms, my favorite Shakespeare play, and my name, while the other's a Forgotten Realms god of war and the Latin word for "time" (which I always found to be a rather odd juxtaposition...). An example of a simple psionic combo that most people miss is Schism manifesting Control Body on yourself. Consider what that might do -- even though it costs a feat to do it. You also might find this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-286992) to be of interest if you like the idea of psionic combos. |
| Perseus_Stoned04-08-07, 04:15 PM | Perhaps electing for a coding might save someone from a perceived scathing attack from now on? :D (just kidding, no harm done and that would get terribly annoying to do all the time- plus there goes the fun in the first place) |
| dolphin4904-08-07, 04:18 PM | thanks for your advice. sorry i took your origional post the wrong way. i called you tempus on purpose because you are like a d&d god whose domain is the message boards |

I'm not sure on this, having never playing with psionics before, but it appears as if you first manifest two minds, then you take someone else's body and put it under control of one of your minds. Effectively you now have two bodies and two minds that can both manifest powers or engage in melee. Very nice trick. |
| Think002804-08-07, 04:52 PM | Actually, one fun part is using a move action to attack. A move action which you get free from the schismed mind. |
| Tempest Stormwind04-08-07, 05:09 PM | Look at what Control Body does. It lets you add your Intelligence modifier to all the controlled body's attack rolls and to the controlled body's AC, in exchange for their old modifiers. It otherwise acts as you direct. If you are Schismed, and the Schism-Mind controls YOUR body, it means that the extra standard action you gain from Schism can direct your body to attack (and even full attack!) using your souped-up INT bonus on attacks and AC, while your normal mind continues to manifest powers as normal. Since the schism-mind controls the body, and not the normal mind, you don't suffer the normal ML hit on those powers that you would if you were using Schism normally. |
| dolphin4904-08-07, 05:14 PM | wow good idea i get it now. i will donate 100,000 gold pieces to the next cleric of tempest i see |
| Lycanthromancer04-11-07, 12:07 PM | I've always been partial to Schism, Energy Wall, and Energy Conversion + Split Psionic Ray + Chain Power + Share with Psicrystal + Psionic Shot. You, your Schism'd mind, and your psicrystal can all potshot your foes with 2 full-strength energy beams each round (gained from Energy Wall earlier in the day, with you tossing in a Psionic Shot each round), with energy arcing to hit foes at half-power for all of them. The rules are a bit fuzzy on how Split Psionic Ray and Chain Power stack, but even with the least powerful interpretation, you have some serious damage output for very little pp expenditure. |
