As a DM I've never been a psionics fan, but I want to try it so I can consider incorperationg it into a new campaign, thanks in advance for the help.
I have 2 questions regarding psions:
1) Am I right in beleiving the only way to have a psicrystal is with the psicrystal affinity feat?
2) Do psicrystal affinities affect the crystal itself or the owner, that is, say I have a crystal with the liar personality, do I gain +3 to bluff or does the crystal?

BTW I'm working from the SRD, not the book so that might be why I'm not getting this.

1) Correct, unless you play an erudite, which even then they get the feat as a bonus.
2) The psicrystal has the same ranks in skills as you do, and the same bonuses. The bonuses that a psicrystal provides are, in essence and design, the same as a wizard's familiar.

1) Yes.
2) They affect the owner, just like the bonuses from having a familiar. Psicrystals are sentient beings who can communicate with others at higher levels, but its usually their creators who can make best use of the boosts.

k thanks.
So in essence the psicrystal affinity feat gains you the effect of 2 feats (alertness, and skill focus) as well as the psicrystal itself.
That'll work :)

Well, it depends on the type of psicrystal you pick. Some give bonuses on saves, others skills.
