Hi, I´d like to know if a psionic character can equip magic itens like Headband of Intelect or Mantle of Charisma to raise it´s stat and consequently get bonus spell points per lvl just like a Wizards would get bonus spells?

If no, what´s the equivalent item for Psionic characters?

The main reason for my question is because I want to use the spell point variant found in Unearthed Arcana and I realized that is based on Psionics, but it cleary says:

"If Boredflak’s Intelligence were increased to 20 because of a fox’s cunning spell or a headband of intellect +4, he wouldn’t gain any additional bonus spell points, since those effects produce temporary changes, not permanent changes."

Short answer: Yes

Long Answer: Read this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=865104&highlight=headband+of+intellect)

By the way, if you're going to be using psionics make sure you get the Expanded Psionics Handbook (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/dndacc/966660000). Don't get the Psionics Handbook, as that book is pure evil and incompatible with the current edition of D&D. The SRD (http://systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionic.html) can fill you in on some basics, but is a tough read.

Check out the stickies at the top of this forum.

Never forget the golden rules of psionics: you can't spend more power points than your manifester level, and you can only expend focus for one feat at a time.

As I said in my first post, what I really want is to use the spell point system from Unearthed Arcana and NOT Psionics. But, as I noticed that one is based on the other, I wanted to ask a few questions...

Can a 19th lvl Sorcerer spend 19 spell points to use it as a 10th lvl spell? Let´s say he want to cast a maximized 7th lvl spell (that would get a 10th lvl slot).

Or he has to get that epic feat that gives you 19 spell points?

The spell point system from Unearthed Arcana is not based on the current psionics system. It is based on the previous psionics system, which was broken beyond belief.

Anyway, 3.0 psionics, UA spell points, and 3.5 psionics are all separate systems with separate rules. Very few people who frequent the psionics board will be familiar with UA spellpoints. Generally, anybody who hangs around here has eschewed UA spellpoints in favor of 3.5 psionics. If you need rules help for spellpoints, UA has it's own forum.

I must recommend using 3.5 psionics instead. The 3.5 psionic system is much more fleshed out, and much more well balanced, than either core spellcasting or AU spellpoints. If you must, simply change the word "psionic" to "magic," "manifest" to "cast," and "psion" to "wizard." We've even compiled a list of alternate names and descriptions for all the powers. It isn't either. There never were augments in 3.0 (before Malhavoc's Mindscapes, at least), it's a standalone system, but poorly implemented.

You see, the point is that while direct damage is forced to scale with spell points, everything else isn't. Polymorph doesn't scale with SPs, Disjunction doesn't and don't get me started on Gate. This problem was solved in 3.5 Psi, but in UA it's a huge issue.

Tempest sums it up pretty well (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=12900834&postcount=24) (and provides a partial fix, by the way).

Renaming psionics would be the easier path, but magic is good too. Just watch out for potential imbalances, Wizards were never meant to Gate Balors all day.
