I was also looking at crystal body (Dragon Magic) any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| AntiDjinn03-14-08, 01:01 AM | Don't take Psychic Crush ever. It is a 5th level power with the saving throw DC of a 1st level (effectively, because of the +4 to the Will save granted by the power). So if you take it now, even opponents with a poor Will save will generally make it, within a few levels practically no on will fail. So all it will amount to is a pathetic 3d6 of damage for 9 power points. To make matters worse, the already poor DC can't be augmented. You can only augment the damage at 1d6 per +2 points. The damage to cost ratio is lower than Concussion Blast which is 3 levels lower, doesn't have the mind-affecting descriptor, does Force damage, and can be augmented to hit additional targets. Psychic Crush is arguably the second-worst power written. As for what you should consider: Baleful Teleport has a good damage to cost ratio: 1d6 per point. The DC can be augmented, and it is relatively difficult damage to block. Only being noncorporeal, having Dimensional Anchor up, or otherwise being immune to effects with the Teleportation are immune. It is just direct damage, but decent as such powers go. Adapt Body. You have Teleport and Plane Shift and so are apt to visit places hostile to life. Freedom of Movement: Because Nomads should be able to slough off restrictions on their mobility. Mindwipe: It is mind-affecting, but if you were considering Psychic Crush, Mindwipe actually gets the job done. It is augmentable for both DC and effect. Negative levels are among the worst of debuffs. If you were thinking of using a save-or-suck then open with Mindwipe since it penalizes all 3 save types on a 1-for-1 basis. It also prevents your opponent from shooting back with his highest level spells or powers (odds are, those are the ones you really don't want to see). Mindwipe is not blocked by Negative Plane Protection as most negative level effects are, but it is blocked by Mind Blank. Note that NPP is only 4th level while MB is 8th for most casters. |
| flamepheonix18203-14-08, 01:10 AM | Just out of curiosity what is the worst power ever written? Thanks for the advice. I forgot about freedom of movement for some reason |
| Lycanthromancer03-14-08, 01:16 AM | Probably metaconcert. Not a single person to date understands how to use it. Including those who wrote it. |
| AntiDjinn03-14-08, 01:45 AM | The worst is Stygian Discernment. Duration is Concentration, up to 1 minute per level. Area is an emanation in a 60 foot cone. Round 1 of concentration: The presence or absence of undead or negative energy auras. They are in a 60 foot cone right in front of you, so you should be able to see them anyway. If they are behind a door or other object then you are out of luck: The effect is an emanation so it is blocked by cover. If they are non-corporeal you need to apply Transdimensional Power or suffer the miss chance (because the power does not contain verbiage to the contrary). If they are hostile, they will probably make their presence known by taking the attack of opportunity you gave up by concentrating. Round 2 of concentration: The number (again, you couldn't just count them? They are right in front of you) and relative strength of the strongest undead or negative aura. Now you get the special bonus: If you are Good and find something that is Overwhelming and that has levels or hit dice twice yours, you are stunned for one round. Wow! Isn't that special? Spend a power point and two rounds concentrating to stun myself with my own power when there is something twice my level and probably not friendly close at hand. Yeah, sign me up for that. Round 3 of concentration: Location (finally!) of each undead or negative aura in the area, the relative strength of each (not just the strongest), and direction to those in the area but out of line of sight (those with cover or concealment relative to you). You get a +2 insight bonus on your next attack vs. undead in the area, or +2 on the DC of the next power used on them. What??? Did I just spend 3 rounds not attacking to get a +2 to hit on a single attack? Did I just risk attacks of opportunity for 3 rounds, potentially stun myself, waste 1 power point, and miss the opportunity to use other powers so I could get +2 on the DC of a single power? It really doesn't get any worse. |
| Lycanthromancer03-14-08, 01:56 AM | It really doesn't get any worse.Not in 3.5, anyway. |
