| cnahumck07-18-07, 12:58 PM | Posted this in the CO Boards, but... Ok. I have seen this trailer (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21832.html), and immediately asked myself, “How could I do this?” Then I though, what better way than to ask the community for help. I have searched the boards, and there is some stuff on it, but not this new development of power in the Secret Apprentice’s abilities. So… Using the elite array for ability scores, and (unfortunately) sticking to OGC material, how would you do it? I would prefer psionics to magic. My thoughts were either psywar or psion/slayer or psion/warmind. Wilder seemed possible too, but I think I am at the point where I have over thought it to the point of paralysis. Any suggestions for feats? Please help guys, thanks |
| InkBlot07-18-07, 01:23 PM | So you want to telekinese an Imperial star destroyer? Check out this other thread for optimizing telekinesis. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=879827) The character seems like a pretty basic blasting wilder. Everything he did in the gameplay portion of the trailer can be done with energy push (electricity), energy stun (electricity), telekinetic thrust, telekinetic force, and energy burst (sonic). That's 5 out of the wilder's 11 powers known, so you have some room for a couple defensive and utility powers too. Just take Expanded Knowledge (telekinetic sphere) at 18th level, so you can drop that star destroyer on the city. |
| cnahumck07-18-07, 02:07 PM | It's not so much the dropping a star destroyer as it is the projecting pure force damage and throwing multiple people at once in multiple directions. But I see your point. |
| InkBlot07-18-07, 02:25 PM | Telekinetic thrust can throw up to 15 people in up to 15 different directions (one direction per person). |
| cnahumck07-18-07, 02:29 PM | I thought there was a weight restriction, 250 lbs max, plus 50 per PP, right? or is that per target? |
| InkBlot07-18-07, 02:39 PM | Telekinetic Thrust Psychokinesis Level: Psion/wilder 3 Display: Visual Manifesting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./ level) Target or Targets: One or more objects or creatures with a total weight of 250 lb. or less Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: Will negates or Will negates (object); see text Power Resistance: Yes or Yes (object); see text Power Points: 5 You can affect one or more objects or creatures by concentrating your mind upon, sending them in a deadly hail at your foes - or simply by hurling your foe! You can hurl one object or creature per manifester level (maximum fifteen separate targets), as long as all are within the power’s range and each is no more than 10 feet away from another one. Each object or creature can be hurled a maximum distance of 10 feet per level. You must succeed on ranged attack rolls (one per creature or object thrown) to hit the target of the hurled items with the items, applying your Intelligence modifier to the attack roll instead of your Dexterity modifier. Hurled weapons deal their standard damage (your Strength bonus does not apply; arrows or bolts deal damage as daggers of their size when used in this manner). Other objects deal damage ranging from 1 point per 25 pounds of weight (for less dangerous objects such as an empty barrel) to 1d6 points per 25 pounds of weight (for hard, dense objects such as a boulder). Creatures are allowed Will saves (and power resistance) to negate the effect, as are those whose held possessions are targeted by this power. If you use this power to hurl a creature against a solid surface, it takes damage as if it had fallen 10 feet (1d6 points). Augment: For every additional power point you spend, the weight limit of the target or targets increases by 25 pounds. There's a weight limit and a maximum number of targets. The weight limit increases by 25 lbs for every power point you spend. Wild Surge will help with the weight limit. An 11th level wilder can toss up to 500 lbs worth of creatures and/or objects. edit I: Twinned energy push followed up with a quickened twinned energy push can toss around four targets regardless of their weight. Choose electricity for extra crispy Sith flavor (and a +2 to the save DCs), or choose sonic if you want it to look like pure force. edit II: You can use telekinetic maneuver to push (trip, bullrush) around enemies, with no weight limit. It's only one at a time, however. If you use the Martial Study feat to learn some Setting Sun maneuvers, you could use telekinetic maneuver and a trip attempt to throw your enemies ludicrous distances. |
