| LadyK06-14-07, 05:13 PM | Hi I'm new to posting threads, I've looked over the lurk and thought it was great, I have my power selection down pat; but as for the feats, I haven't found a good combination, and I don't want to fall back on my usual rogue tactics. Any suggestions for a lurk build, or a possible link to Lurk builds? |
| AdventChild06-15-07, 04:09 AM | of course, i used my new power (Search Button) and found this for you The Lurk Build Guide & Compendium (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=623529&highlight=lurk+guide) |
| Soahc06-15-07, 07:29 AM | I truly don't know where this button is, can someone please give me directions. I can't see it....seriously!! |
| InkBlot06-15-07, 09:07 AM | It's not there for everybody. WotC is testing the search function by allowing a randomly selected group of people to use it. Last time we all had the search function, it crashed the forums because too many people were searching it at the same time. Now they've rebuilt it in a way that should allow more people to search at once, but they need to test it first. |
| SlanderPanic06-15-07, 10:12 AM | I just noticed I have search, too. Nice! On-topic, lurks are generally best-served by feats that require them to maintain a psionic focus. Speed of Thought, Up The Walls, and Focused Skill User are great choices. Expanded Knowledge (astral construct) gives you an always-available ally who can help you flank, if nothing else. For non-psionic feats, Stealthy and Alertness are good choices. Weapon Finesse and the Two-Weapon Fighting feats can help you get the most out of your sneak attacks and your high Dex. You can't go wrong with Dodge and Improved Initiative, either. Remember, a lurk is all about sneaking and killing, not about being a skill-monkey like a rogue is. Don't think of the lurk as a rogue. Think of him as a philosophical assassin, a killer with a cause. He's James Bond in Casino Royale: Part monk, part hit-man. If you want to play up the espionage angle even more, take a look at the Ebon Saint prestige class. |
| InkBlot06-15-07, 12:54 PM | Expanded Knowledge (astral construct) gives you an always-available ally who can help you flank, if nothing else. An astral construct can also fly you across a ravine or up a sheer cliff, carry you across rough waters, set off traps, knock down doors, stand inbetween you and a big nasty, et cetera. However, you shouldn't need an astral construct to do all that for you. That's what the other 3 - 5 members of your adventuring party are there for! So don't spend a feat on the pp-hungry astral construct power unless a) you're in an extremely small party, b) often find yourself alone and in trouble while scouting, or c) the other party members have never heard of "teamwork." |
| LadyK06-15-07, 01:35 PM | hmm, okay, well if i take expanded knowledge it should be rather useful to me then? Considering I don't have a very large party.. What if I had chosen expanded knowledge as a feat and chosen the power call weaponry.. would that be useful at all or is that just a waste of time? |
| SlanderPanic06-15-07, 01:44 PM | I tend to prefer having Quick Draw and about a dozen or so daggers. (One can never have too many daggers.) However, occasionally the DM does decide to divest the daring delvers of their dozen daggers, in which case, call weaponry is a fantastic power to have. Given enough time, one could summon weapons for one's entire party. If I may ask, what level are you starting at? |
| InkBlot06-15-07, 01:57 PM | Except that any weapon summoned with call weaponry disappears one round after it leaves your hand. |
| Lycanthromancer06-15-07, 02:24 PM | <snip> DM does decide to divest the daring delvers of their dozen daggers <snip> Alliteration is awesome. You read Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, (www.dominic-deegan.com) don't you. |
| LadyK06-15-07, 02:24 PM | Oh i see. Well I am starting my character at level 1, I just need some advise on what feats to use. I can't find many builds on the lurk so i was wondering what everyone had to say. |
| SlanderPanic06-15-07, 03:41 PM | Admittedly, although I am aware of the art in question, my affection for amazing and awesome acts of alliteration is an artifact of my literary aspirations. Also, it's an avatar of an obsessive-compulsive affliction. |
| The_Shaman06-15-07, 03:44 PM | I keep thinking about psycristals for skilled psionic characters. Your crystal can use any skill you have at your ranks... That is like rerolling any skill and keeping the better. Having an extra psionic focus, (psycristal attunement), can be useful at times, too. |
| SlanderPanic06-15-07, 03:52 PM | I never thought about that. You can also have your psicrystal Aid Another whenever you try a skill check, if it's one two characters can't work together on. For first level, LadyK, I'd suggest going with Up The Walls and, if you're human, Focused Skill User. Is your DM allowing flaws in exchange for bonus feats? |
| OneWinged4ngel06-15-07, 03:54 PM | I truly don't know where this button is, can someone please give me directions. I can't see it....seriously!! It's in a few places. 1) Google. This has always been there, and it's just sad when people won't use it. I *still* find it better than the WotC search button. 2) In the upper right hand of the screen for selected members. |
| Lycanthromancer06-16-07, 12:32 PM | I have access to the Search function as well. ... I never use it. |
| InkBlot06-16-07, 01:01 PM | I have it, and I use it occasionaly. Google takes a lot more clicks to use, if you want to search within a specific domain, so I had almost never used it. The forum search is always handy for when there's a thread I want to check up on, that's fallen off the 1st page. I don't use the "watch this thread" feature, because I don't always know what I might want to see later and what will end up being forgetable. |
| Soahc06-18-07, 02:23 PM | Try this build. Human Lurk 1. Dodge 1. Psionic dodge 3. Mobility 6. Expeditious dodge 9. Combat Expertise 12. Spring attack 15. Bounding Assault 18. Karmic Strike You can replace Karmic Strike, and Combat Expertise with Expanded Knowledge(s). Like Astral Construct and Ectoplasmic Wall. |
