So the Ilithid Heritage Feats weren't well received, do you think it would be nice to see other kind of Heritage feats?

- Draconic. There are psionic dragons, so we might get, for example, psychic warriors and wilders with breath weapons (and a few extra powers wouldn't hurt the wilder).

- Fiendish. Telepathy is a trait plenty of outsiders (especially evil) have, so they could have spawned creatures that receive this as a psionic trait (also consider that tieflings are creatures with a bonus to INT so it doesn't sound that crazy they can manifest psionics).

There could be many more (Fey-descended wilders). Celestial just doesn't bring anything psionic to my mind right now. What do you think?

There certainly are numerous psionic creatures that would be much more suitable for heritage feats than illithids. Cerebreliths and couatls are both psionic, and would make for some interesting templates and feats.

Aboleth heritage feats? *Shudder*

What about Elemental or Planar influences... both can be used for Heritage.

(ie Planetouched, Genesai, Dreamscarred*)

Main problem I see is that most psionic creatures are either abberations (and thus have similar problems as illithids for heritage stuff) or are part of another group whose heritages are already centered toward casters. Dragons and arcane, outsiders and divine, etc.

I created my own psionic feat, based not on a race that crossbred with others. Instead I based it on an legendary nation.

you find them at http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=801544 about half way the page.

I don't see anything wrong with aberrations in general using a similar mechanic to Heritage feats, like the Aberrant feats in Lords of Madness. Not that the PC is descended from any specific ones, because that would make no sense, but there are all sorts of elder entities who like tainting humanity with their insane elder essence. Or something like that. :)

What were the problems with the Illithid Heritage Feats? I did not follow the discussion itself. I do not like the feats themselves, 'cause you need a very good explanation to acquire them. But still perfectly legal.

Illithids are hermaphrodites and reproduce in an ugly larval way. So there can be no "half illithid" crossbreed by typical breeding.

But, following the 2nd ed. Illithiad, Lords of Madness and other sources, Illithids are a genious race of crafters. The do all kinds of horrible experiments with the thralls, and breeding a warrior race with half-illithid traits is logical.

Further, there are accidents with ceremorphosis:
The body does not change to typical Illithid form, but mind changes to illithid, or tadpole was damaged in the process and manages only partial transformation... and if the damaged illithid is not killed by the hive or the elder brain, it could be a source of halfbreeds.

I do like *some* of the mechanics for the heritage feats, especially for a telepath. Then again, there's the Illithid Blast feat, which is utterly useless, as written.
