Telekinetic Force
Psychokinesis [Force]
Level: Psion/wilder 3
Display: Visual
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./ level)
Target: One object at a time
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 round/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (object); see text
Power Resistance: Yes (object)
Power Points: 5

You move an object by concentrating your mind upon its current location and then the location you desire, creating a sustained force. You can move an object weighing no more than 250 pounds up to 20 feet per round. A creature can negate the effect on an object it possesses with a successful Will save or with power resistance. The weight can be moved across the ground or through the air. This power ends if the object is forced out of range. If you cease concentration, the object falls or stops.

You can drop a weight and pick up another during the power’s duration, as long as you don’t stop concentrating on maintaining the power. An object can be telekinetically manipulated as if you were moving it with one hand.

If you spend at least 5 rounds concentrating on an unattended object, you can attempt to break or burst it as if making a Strength check, except that you apply your key ability modifier to the check instead of your Strength modifier.

Augment: For every additional power point you spend, the weight limit of the target increases by 25 pounds.

Hey dudes, I wanting to buff this power and can see some possibilities.

1. Feat: Twin Power (500 pounds but 2 x saves, when applicable)
2. Feat: Overchannel
3. Simply augmenting

Any other thoughts please?

I got that thing you sent me.
Wanting to know how to buff TK to the point of lifting a house.. or even a meager 2-3 tonne. Heheh.. eg lifting a massive boulder

So far I've come up with OverChannel + Twin Power + augment.

At 10th level you get roughly 600 pounds = 273kgs approx.

Also depends if my DM will let me as the power is stated as lifting with "one hand"... hmm..

"With one hand" just refers to the dexterity which with you can manipulate things, not the size of things you can lift. You can lift things much larger than would ever fit in one hand. In fact, it's a bit hard to imagine something that weighs 625 lbs that fits in just one hand, which is precisely how much you can lift at manifester level 20 without any special feats or anything.

If you use Twin Power you get two instances of the same power. Each instance requires you to concentrate on it. This would require two standard actions each round. The only way to get around that would be to manifest solicit psicrystal, but manifesting a power automatically ends any powers you were already concentrating on.

Basically, you'd be better off without using Twin Power. You would get the same effect if you just manifest TK force, use solicit psicrystal to transfer concentration to your psicrstal, then manifest TK force again. To top it all off, manifest schism and have you second mind use TK force as well.

This method requires your DM to make leap of logic and lower the effective weight of an object if multiple people (you, yourself, and your psicrystal) are all trying to TK it in the same direction. If it works, you can lift 750 lbs at 10th level. At 11th level (when you schism can manifest TK force) you can lift 1,050 lbs.

Oh, I forgot to factor in Overchannel. Overchannel gives you an extra 50 lbs on each manifestation of TK force. So 900 lbs at 10th level, or 1,200 lbs at 11th level.

Of course, at 15th level a kineticist can get TK sphere, which lifts 5,000 lbs right off the bat. A non-kineticist psion can get TK sphere at 18th level with Expanded Knowledge.

Edit: At 19th level you could lift just barely over one ton (2,025 lbs).

Edit: For non-Americans, I'm referring to the short ton. A short ton is 2,000 pounds imperial, or about 907 kilograms metric.

Oops! Okay forgot about that. Thanks!

I can see Schism working well with it. But having to coordinate your psicrystal to.. "LIFT.... NOW!!!" might be tricky.

I saw this but not quite Yoda-like... more Magneto. :)

Thanks again.. I'll make do with Schism + Overchannel trick. Until someone creates a new feat.

If it helps, don't think of tk sphere as creating a hollow ball -- think of it as affecting all objects in a small spherical area. In the same way that a fireball makes everything in a spherical area burn, a tk sphere makes everything in a spherical area go up (or left, right, down, away, or towards).

For some reason I keep envisioning Sue Storm's powers when referred to as a sphere: http://weblogs.variety.com/photos/uncategorized/ffmovie.jpg

:)

But I guess that "scatter sphere" image would also be cool.

Schism + TK Sphere x 2 = 10k. Roughly 4.5 tonne. Not bad... :w00t:

I guess for now I'll just settle for lifting Shaq-sized monsters.

Thanks again!

Telekinetic sphere is a bit odd. Things inside the sphere weigh 1/16th their normal weight, meaning that if you put another sphere around your first sphere you could lift much more than just 10,000 lbs.

If I did my math right* you could lift a grand total of 65,536 lbs with three nested telekinetic spheres.

*I don't really trust my maths ability after midnight, so you may want to double check.

Got a point there.

So a 300 lbs Shaq would only weigh 19 lbs.

So do you factor the 5,000 lbs limit x 16?? = 80,000 lbs*?

Well, you can center the sphere on things that weigh more than 5,000 lbs. You just can't lift them.

So you center the sphere on 1,280,000 lbs of dark matter.

The dark matter now weighs 80,000 lbs (1,280,000/16).

Now put a second sphere around the first sphere. Sphere 2 makes everything inside it weigh 1/16th it's original weight, knocking 80,000 lbs down to 5,000.

Sphere 1 still can't lift the dark matter, because as far as sphere 1 is concerned the dark matter still weighs 1,280,000 lbs. Sphere 2 can't lift it either, because as far as it's concerned the dark matter still weighs 80,000 lbs.

You need to manifest a third sphere around sphere 1 and sphere 2. As far as sphere 3 is concerned, everything inside it weighs 5,000 lbs. Sphere 3 lifts off the ground, with all 640,000 tons of dark matter inside, at your command.

In other words, I really can't trust my math after midnight.

LMAO

*off to lift a castle*

Can a castle that fits into a 21-foot wide sphere be properly called a castle? Widen Power doesn't help, because tk sphere isn't "a burst, emanation, line, or spread-shaped power." If you grab just part of an object, and try to lift the rest by that part, you have to keep in mind that the weight of the part outside the sphere isn't reduced.

Haha.. sorry I was just being flippant.

How about lifting a lighthouse... or a tower?? :D
