| munin04-04-07, 08:50 AM | Sometimes, a few rounds is all you need... HURRY POWER [METAPSIONIC] With a moment’s thought, you manifest a fleeting variant of a power. Benefit: To use this feat, you must expend your psionic focus. You can manifest one power as a hurried power. A hurried power has a manifesting time of "1 immediate swift action" and its duration is shortened: "1 round/level" becomes "1 round", "1 min./level" becomes "2 rounds", "10 min./level" becomes "3 rounds", "1 hour/level" becomes "4 rounds", and a duration of 1 day (or 24 hours) or more becomes "5 rounds" (powers with durations other than those listed cannot be hurried, including powers with durations of concentration, instantaneous, or permanent). In addition, all effects based on manifester level (such as range) are calculated as if your manifester level were reduced by 2. You cannot hurry a power with a manifesting time longer than 1 round. A hurried power cannot be augmented to increase its duration, except in the following way loses all augmentations which change its duration, but gains the following augmentation: "For every 4 additional power points you spend, the duration increases by 1 round." Using this feat increases the power point cost of the power by 2. The power’s total cost cannot exceed your manifester level. Manifesting a hurried power does not provoke attacks of opportunity. |
| kyeudo04-04-07, 09:42 AM | Seems too powerful to me. There are so many powers that are good if you can cast them on someone elses turn, even if they only last 1 round. For example, if the other guy wins inititive and charges your fighter buddy, you manifest a hurried Astral Construct in the way, which then gets a full attack on the creature, since it gets a full round of actions the turn it comes into being. The other creatures action failed because he smacked into the construct, the construct need only be made to do as much damage as possible in one round, and all you did was blow 3 power points. And that's just what I could think of off the top of my head. If you had a psionic Hold Person (there probably is, but I can't think of it off the top of my head), all you do is manifest it and you have a stunned creature sitting right next to the fighter, perfectly positioned for a coup de grace. There are also a few powers that only have 1 round durations, and they are realy nice to have up in certain situations, but its hard to get them up before your going to need them. With this feat, no more guesswork. Quicken Power is 6 power point cost, and still can only be manifest on your turn. I'd raise the power point cost on the power and take away that manifester level penalty. Almost nothing important beyond durations are determined by manifester level, and the feat already strips that. |

How does Hurry Power interact with Extend Power? I agree that you should remove the manifester level penalty. The penalty is very harsh because it would also lower the maximum number of power points one could spend on a power. The present restrictions seem like enough to prevent abuse. |

Hurry Power + Extend Power= epic manifesting. I guess you could get a psicrystal and the feat that lets it store a focus, but that would be 4 feats. I don't think that would be overpowered pre-epic. |
| kyeudo04-04-07, 09:41 PM | Now that its not an imediate action, I dont see the point. Why do I care for a 1 round buff, or for a 1 round penalty when I can just get Quicken Power? |

| Kiklio04-04-07, 11:18 PM | I wanted to know how it interacted, not if any interaction was overpowered or anything. |
| munin04-05-07, 09:04 AM | Each of these statements are unncessary. How does Hurry Power interact with Extend Power? I agree that you should remove the manifester level penalty. Both of those statements are standard statements borrowed from the other psionic feats. I thought it better to keep them in rather than imply that this feat was different in some way because it didn't have those statements. Since Hurry Power actually changes the power's duration, Extend Power would apply normally to the new duration. It's better than the standard Hurry Power augmentation, but costs a feat slot and expenditure of a second psionic focus. It probably doesn't matter, but you would usually have to apply Extend Power after Hurry Power, since Extend Power usually would change the duration to something Hurry Power can not be applied to. I agree the manifester level statement is causing confusion and is probably not necessary. It wasn't my intent to have it limit the number of power points you can spend on a power, just reduce the effectiveness of the power (for most powers, just range; only a few, like metamorphosis have other significant calculations based on ML). Since it usually only affects range, and not that much, I'll remove it. Does anybody know how to format a strikethru? A quickened power cost +6 power points. This is cheaper and meant for when you need only a round or two. Exactly. The cheapness gives you more power points for other augmentations. It also lets you play around with quickening your highest level powers four levels earlier. |

| munin04-06-07, 09:02 AM | Thanks all for your help! I'm happy with the version we've worked out. I think it's an interesting alternative to quicken. munin |
