| Zemyla04-13-07, 05:20 PM | I have been reading the Magic Item Compendium. I haven't had the chance to go over it completely, but I did notice one thing. They took out the mindfeeder nerf from the XPH errata that limited your power point gain to 1/day. Now you can gain power points on any critical hit! :D The bad news is that you only gain 1 power point per 5 points of damage you deal, but them's the breaks. Any other psionic news in the Magic Item Compendium? |
| awaken_D_M_golem04-13-07, 05:35 PM | Return of the Bag of Rats Recharge !!! woo-hoo The other thing discussed was this ---> link Tempest got mad at me, though, :weep: Mommy was a Wizard says "there, there little Awakey". |
| Think002804-13-07, 06:31 PM | Yeah, a quick summary: Craft Universal Item now counts as Craft Wonderous. Craft Psionic Arms and Armor now counts as Magic. |
| Ecu04-13-07, 07:45 PM | Actually, I reread over the magic item creation feats things. They are purely one-way. In that.. you can make psionic versions of magic items presented in the book if you can qualify similar prerequisites via psionic means instead of magic. It does not let the feats act as eachother. |

"Magic and Psionics are transparent, Unless it would benefit the Psion." |
| ChinchillaofDoom04-13-07, 09:14 PM | Wizard 1 - "Hey, Look! The psions have half a dozen things we can't make ourselves, compared to the thousands of things we make on a whim that they can never dream of." Wizard 2 - "Oh, that just won't do, won't do at all." *Yoink!* |
| Wizard Random04-14-07, 12:04 AM | I can't stand what they did to the Torc of Power Preservation, it feels like they took away something imporant. |
| ArcTan04-14-07, 03:24 AM | Wizard 1 - "Hey, Look! The psions have half a dozen things we can't make ourselves, compared to the thousands of things we make on a whim that they can never dream of." Wizard 2 - "Oh, that just won't do, won't do at all." *Yoink!* Er, I don't have MIC, but Ecu said the opposite: Actually, I reread over the magic item creation feats things. They are purely one-way. In that.. you can make psionic versions of magic items presented in the book if you can qualify similar prerequisites via psionic means instead of magic. It does not let the feats act as eachother. In other words, Psions can make (psionic versions of) magic items but Wizards still can't make psionic items. So yes, this is a boost for Psions. |
| The Livewire04-14-07, 11:24 AM | ArcTan, Most all the psionic items list the psionic power needed, and the spell. The exceptions are those who require a class ability (surge, psionic specialization, etc) It's not the other way around. It doesn't let the psion use energy ray to substitute for scorching ray, for example. In the case of psibane weapons it's even more pathetic. Psion needs reality revision to make it. Wizard needs... dispell magic |

WotC really DOES :censored: hate Psionics, doesn't it? :nonono:  Wow... that Mindfeeder re-revision is a GREAT boost for Psychic Warriors. Of course it is good for any psionic character who melees, but with their lower power point pools, and heavy melee focus, as well as abundance of feats, they will benefit most from it I think. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer04-14-07, 12:41 PM | I can't stand what they did to the Torc of Power Preservation, it feels like they took away something imporant. Yeah, but it doesn't do as much. Just call it a "lesser" version and use both. |
| hunterc31104-14-07, 12:45 PM | I can't stand what they did to the Torc of Power Preservation, it feels like they took away something imporant. eeeee... wait a sec... what did they do to it? |
| NoldorForce04-14-07, 12:49 PM | Mindfeeder is nasty if used in conjunction with Power Attack, a couple Gray Bags of Tricks, a scythe, and...oh...Soul Crystal. You're like a metamind, except that you don't have to pay five manifester levels to suck for free once per day. |
| Zemyla04-14-07, 02:22 PM | In the case of psibane weapons it's even more pathetic. Psion needs reality revision to make it. Wizard needs... dispell magic That makes sense, a little. Of course, I would change magebane weapons so they were more difficult for spellcasters to make than manifesters. The thought of a psion with a magebane weapon and a wizard with a psibane weapon duking it out makes me happy inside. |
| Batshido04-14-07, 02:50 PM | eeeee... wait a sec... what did they do to it? They made it into a 5/day item. It costs a lot less, though. |
| NoldorForce04-14-07, 07:27 PM | For some bizarre reason, the magebane and psibane properties have analogous effects to the letter...but magebane costs +1, while psibane costs +2. |
| munin04-14-07, 07:44 PM | I can't stand what they did to the Torc of Power Preservation, it feels like they took away something imporant. The old torc allowed you to save 1 power point every time you manifested for 36,000 gp. The new torc allows you to save 1 power point five times per day for 4,000 gp. It's certainly possible to manifest 45+ times per day, but otherwise the new torc is a better deal (you can buy/craft more than one and swap out), and becomes available much earlier for greater campaign fun (8th level instead of 17th). And the changes in MIC don't have to be seen as changes/nerfs to old items. You're welcome to use the old ones if you want. It doesn't let the psion use energy ray to substitute for scorching ray, for example. Actually, the sidebar (MIC 232) describes how to replace spell requirements with power requirements, and explicitly uses energy burst for fireball as an example. I think you're good. |

Creatures that Magebane works on are a LOT more common in most games than the ones Psibane would work against. |

Or did I mean Mindfeeder ... :thinks: I think keeping the old / SRD torc is a good idea, especially for the Wilder. |
