Wizard Random 05-08-07, 06:13 AM	So here is a simple question The Psi-Weapon Master says it wants a Melee Crystal Weapon to enter the class and indeed most of its abilitys like that free whirlwind do seem to go along with this assumption. It is also ASSUMED that most if not all of it abilitys are to be used with its bonded weapon, although only 1 or 2 of the abilitys even hint at only 1 weapon. Am i right? Let me know so i can finish hashing out this idea of mine.

This idea might just do a few throusand damage i am not making any proimises though and i want to know... A) Do you need a bonded weapon in order to use the abilites granted by the Psychic Weapon Master Prc.? B) Does it have to stay a Melee Weapon?
Lokiyn 05-08-07, 05:29 PM	To gain the special abilities of the psychic weapon master class, a character must use her weapon of choice. Once chosen, the weapon of choice cannot be changed. This does not mean that, if her weapon of choice is the longsword, she can use only the longsword she owned when she first became a psychic weapon master. The only material requirement for the class is a crystal version of her weapon. It means that she can use any standard crystal longsword and gain the benefits of the psychic weapon master. If she uses any other weapon, she can use none of the special abilities of the prestige class. No Yes

The class makes a clear distinction between weapon of choice, the chosen melee weapon and the bonded weapon, the single weapon of choice that the weapon master has chosen to enhance using the advanced bonding. YesThe weapon of choice must be a melee weapon, once chosen the weapon of choices physical form isn't linked to a single weapon, but rather all weapons of that type. As demonstrated in the text of the class itself the class features make no difference between long sword A and long sword B as long as they are both crystal and long swords. If for example a psychic weapon master had a morphing long sword and changed it to a short sword the weapon would no longer qualify for the weapon of choice and the weapon master would no longer be able to use their class features until the weapon was a long sword again.As a subset of the above answer, the reason why i state that it must be a melee weapon is that your abilities are limited to weapons of choice, weapons of choice must be a Crystal melee weapon, thus the weapon must be a melee weapon
CrimsonDeath 05-09-07, 06:03 AM	What if the melee weapon in question is also a ranged weapon (like a dagger, light hammer, or throwing axe)? Can you use class abilities on thrown attacks with such weapons, or does it cease to be a "melee weapon" when you throw it?

Ranged weapons are thrown weapons or projectile weapons that are not effective in melee. Bonded weapon psionic damage Increased multiplier Psionic weapon focus Improved Critical Can be used if you use your melee weapon as a thrown weapon Combat Expertise Whirlwind Cannot be so used, as both of those class abilities specify melee attacks rather than melee weapons
