| Mindolin06-16-07, 12:24 AM | I know that, according to the rules, you can't do this, but I was thinking of adding an augmentation to the Boost power so that for every power point beyond its normal cost you gain an additional 5 ft. of movement. Does this sound balanced, too weak, or (somehow) too strong? |
| Millenia06-16-07, 12:27 AM | I'd suggest +4 PP for an additional 10 feet, up to a maximum of 30 extra feet of movement, as per the Xeph's racial burst description. |
| munin06-16-07, 09:29 AM | Keep in mind that burst is severely underpowered compared to swift expeditious retreat [SC85]. Apparently, arcane casters are much better at enhancing movement speeds than nomads. |
| InkBlot06-16-07, 12:24 PM | But nomads are much better at slipping between dimensions. Anyway, I like Millenia's idea. I would also add augments to increase the duration to 1 min/level, and 10 min/level. Augment: You can manifest this power in one or both of the following ways. 1. For every additional 2 power points you spend, your enhancement bonus to speed increases by +10 feet, to a maximum of double your base speed. 2. If you spend 2 additional power points, the duration of this power increases to 1 min/level. 3. If you spend 4 additional power points, the duration of this power increases to 10 min/level. |
| Lycanthromancer06-16-07, 12:30 PM | Meh. I just turned burst into a Talent, then used skate for all of my movement-inspired goodness. Not to say that burst isn't augmentable, however. <.< >.> :D |
| Tyroki06-18-07, 09:39 AM | Is skate good? XD I've been debating whether or not it is in my head. |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 09:41 AM | Gain a +15 ft enhancement bonus to base land speed AND the ability to tote around 1-ton adamantine doors that the DM never thought I'd be able to drag home to fabricate into suits of full plate when I gain a few levels to sell at ridiculously inflated prices? Nah. It sucks. |
| Tyroki06-18-07, 09:42 AM | How did you get it off it's hinges? A psionic blowtorch? Oh... *Smacks his head* Time Hop the hinges xD |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 09:45 AM | That, or a well-aimed energy ray. Either way works. Of course, there's always matter agitation. Hundreds of points of non-typed, irresistible damage at level 1? Sign me up! |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 09:46 AM | Is skate good? XD I've been debating whether or not it is in my head.Wait, are you debating on whether or not you have a roller skate in your head? |
| Tyroki06-18-07, 09:49 AM | That, or a well-aimed energy ray. Either way works. Of course, there's always matter agitation. Hundreds of points of non-typed, irresistible damage at level 1? Sign me up! How O.o No no. XD I was debating, in my head, with myself, you know, my little schism buddy, whether or not Skate was a power worth getting for my character. See, my schism is useful. He gives me ideas, and provides a debate partner... Trouble is... It's all so very singleminded. |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 10:09 AM | From the SRD (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersGtoP.html#matter-agitation): Matter Agitation Psychokinesis Level: Psion/wilder 1 Display: Auditory and material Manifesting Time: 1 standard action Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Area: 2 sq. ft. of surface area of an object or creature Duration: Concentration, up to 1 min./level Saving Throw: None Power Resistance: Yes Power Points: 1 You can excite the structure of a nonpsionic, nonmagical object, heating it to the point of combustion over time. The agitation grows more intense in the second and third rounds after you manifest the power, as described below. 1st Round: Readily flammable material (paper, dry grass, tinder, torches) ignites. Skin reddens (1 point of damage). 2nd Round: Wood smolders and smokes, metal becomes hot to the touch, skin blisters (1d4 points of damage), hair smolders, paint shrivels, water boils. 3rd and Subsequent Rounds: Wood ignites, metal scorches (1d4 points of damage for those holding metallic objects). Skin burns and hair ignites (1d6 points of damage), lead melts. Note that the only way to keep from being scorched is PR. It's not even fire damage! That's 1 + 1d4 + 8d6 points of nigh-irresistable damage at level 1, per power point. Like I said, potentially hundreds of damage, if you use all of your power points. If you Overchannel, you can deal 1 + 1d4 + 18d6 damage. |
| Tyroki06-18-07, 10:13 AM | o.o So I suppose used over and over again, you can just... melt the hinges. Well what do you know... Psionic Blowtorch xD |
| munin06-18-07, 05:37 PM | Hardness applies against untyped damage (though the damage is not halved like fire damage), so matter agitation can't affect an iron hinge (hardness 10), without metapsionic boosts. It can make lead melt (which we can presume must have a hardness of 5 or less, if 1d6 damage can melt it), but not iron. |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 05:48 PM | It's a power, so hardness doesn't apply unless the power does physical, piercing/bludgeoning/slashing damage. ...Unless I'm wrong. ...And I am. I just looked it up, and it says nothing about kinds of damage (though force, acid, and sonic - sometimes - do overcome it). Dang. |
| Tyroki06-18-07, 08:18 PM | Out comes the Sonic Energy Ray then? |
| Lycanthromancer06-18-07, 08:29 PM | *Yawn* It's been a long week. |
| Scion of Coldshard06-19-07, 03:03 PM | Note that the only way to keep from being scorched is PR. It's not even fire damage! Heat damage is equivalent to fire damage. I am not sure if it explicitly says this but many places in the rules talk about fire damage and heat damage interchangeably, such as damage from lava and other environmental hazards. If this wasnt true then fire elementals would die on the plane of fire because of the environment ;) And I am. I just looked it up, and it says nothing about kinds of damage (though force, acid, and sonic - sometimes - do overcome it). Did you find something that says force ignores hardness? I would like to see that as every once in awhile I try to find such a reference ;) |
