It consists of numerous, overlapping planar connections set into an ectoplasmic base that evaporates once the spackle is applied, leaving a region safely fortified against planar intrusion. Dimensional Spackle is typically carried in five-gallon buckets that are lined and sealed with lead, although any container that blocks psionic or magical auras will suffice (bags of holding aren't recommended). One pound of dimensional spackle occupies a volume of one quart; thus, a typical container holds twenty pounds of the substance. Activation: All applications of dimensional spackle require the user to project a non-specific command thought as a swift action - in effect, the user simply wills the substance to set. The time required to apply the putty to a surface, planar breach, or creature depends on the method of activation: hurling a one-pound glob of spackle as a grenadelike weapon is a standard action; hastily covering an area takes a full-round action for every 10-foot by 10-foot square so coated, while carefully sealing an area requires 10 minutes for every 10-foot by 10-foot square covered. Each 5-foot square takes one pound of spackle to cover (for irregular surfaces, one pound for every twenty-five square feet of area - some rough estimation may be required). Effect: When hurled at a creature of Medium size or smaller as a ranged touch attack with a grenadelike weapon, a one-pound glob of dimensional spackle explodes into miniscule strands that ensnare the opponent, as ectoplasmic cocoon, for five rounds. A successful Reflex save (DC 19) reduces this effect to that of entangling ectoplasm; Large and larger creatures automatically succeed on this save. In any event, the target is blocked from using extradimensional means of travel for one hour, as per (psionic) dimensional anchor; spell/power resistance does not apply against this effect. Applied to a surface, dimensional spackle blocks dimensional travel within ten feet of the coated surface, as dimensional obstruction (from Hyperconscious; the effect is fundamentally almost identical to dimensional lock) (ML 15th). Alternately, the spackle can be applied directly to a planar breach (including a manifest zone or wild zone, if you are using the Eberron campaign setting); doing so seals the breach, totally nullifying its effects and preventing further breaches from forming in the affected area for the duration of the spackle's effect (note that extensive breaches, such as Eberron's Gloaming, are only suppressed within ten feet of the spackled area, unless the source of the breach itself is coated with spackle). Even portals or gates can be sealed in this manner. Hastily applied spackle lasts for one hour, and allows SR/PR to overcome its effects (treat it as having a +15 bonus on the check to beat SR/PR), or can be disrupted by a spell or power whose effects would normally be blocked if the user of the spell or power succeeds on a DC 26 CL/ML check. Dimensional spackle that fails in this manner immediately breaks, ending its effects. Carefully applied spackle lasts for one week, never fails to block creatures and effects, and cannot be destroyed prematurely by anything less than a wish, miracle (caster must pay 5,000 XP, as per the "greater request" function of the spell), or reality revision. Price: 1,000 gp per pound. Crafting Prerequisites: ML 15, Craft Universal Item, entangling ectoplasm or ectoplasmic cocoon, psionic dimensional anchor or dimensional obstruction. Variants: Magical versions of this item can be created using CL 15, Craft Wonderous Item, web, and dimensional anchor/lock as prerequisites. Additionally, greater versions of this substance exist, valued at 3,000 gp per pound and requiring one of the following in addition to the other prerequisites: anchor plane (Faiths of Eberron), divert teleport, bend reality, or limited wish. Greater Dimensional Spackle binds and anchors all creatures within ten feet of the primary target if hurled. It never risks failing to block a creature or effect if hastily applied; if carefully applied, it generates an instantaneous effect that permanantly seals all planar breaches within its area and prevents further breaches from forming or passing through - the area is forevermore secure against all forms of extradimensional disturbance. Questions? Comments? Edit: More importantly, criticism and feedback? Sorry, I probably should have included "PEACH" somewhere in there. |
