| Oblivionsfate08-26-07, 10:54 AM | Is there any Powers or classes that use illusions outside of the XPH, that are Psionic? My DM has baned all Arcane casters, yet is still leting us use Psionics, and I want to be an Illusionist. He did say that if I could find a class or powers off of here that, with his okay, I could use that. |
| Lycanthromancer08-26-07, 10:56 AM | Check out the recent Mind's Eye article regarding the erudite. They can use arcane spells as psionic powers. Other than that, your only option is to use the false sensory input power. Astral construct can be useful, with a really good Craft check. |
| Ryuoch08-26-07, 11:24 AM | Also athas.org had a power called hallucination in there 3.5 dark sun update http://www.athas.org/releases/ds3/ , its a little high lvl (5th) but on a failed will save you can make them see what ever u want...oh and don't forget create sound |
| Oblivionsfate08-26-07, 11:36 AM | That is a cool power, and perfect for what I want. Are there any lower lvl Powers that mimic any Spells, like mirror image or minor image? |
| AntiDjinn08-26-07, 12:02 PM | The Mind's Eye option for the Erudite doesn't let you simply use any spell as a power; it lets you convert a spell to a power of the same level. This is something you do once for each conversion and it is quite a bit faster than normal power research. If you want to make new powers that mimic existing illusions, and you are not an Erudite, and the DM is OK with it, then the rules are in the XPH. It would probably have to take place in the game (unless your DM is willing to allow you to start play with originally researched powers and appropriate XP debt). You will likely only be able to research a few powers, not your entire list, because of the time requirements; at 1 week per level your party will probably leave without you if you try to do more than a handful of power conversions. For spell conversions, illusions are generally going to be psychokinetic (light control), phantasms will be telepathic, patterns will be psychokinetic, effects that manipulate or fool scrying will be clairesentient. There are a couple of pseudo-illusion powers in the XPH. False Sensory Input lets you manipulate one sense at a time for one or more targets. You have to concentrate, but available senses include manipulating what the subject feels so you can make it think the damage it is taking comes from a different source. Cloud Mind lets you block one subject's ability to perceive you with any sense. Its Mass version is lame; by the time you could make a crowd fail to notice you, you could more easily make them all fetch you tea and biscuits. Microcosm lets you shut down and re-form the subject's complete sensorium. |
