| Schatten907-29-07, 01:01 AM | I'm starting to get confused now as to how to handle all this. I'm playing a Xeph Lurk/Ranger and have taken the Xeph Celerity feat (Complete Psionic p.59), which allows me to use the Xeph burst ability to gain an extra attack for 1 round at my highest attack bonus, when making a full attack. I also have the Ranger's Improved Two Weapon Fighting feat, which allows me to make a 2rd attack with my off-hand weapon at -5. My current Base Attack Bonus is +6/+1, which shows I can make two attacks per round if making a full attack. My Dex bonus (I have Weapon Finesse and am using a rapier +1 and masterwork scimitar) is +4, making my normal attack +11/+6. So, let's say I make a full attack in a round, and use my two weapon fighting, plus my Xeph burst converted into an extra attack with the Xeph Celerity feat. Would the attacks I made in one round be: *first attack with rapier +1 made with +9 bonus * off-hand mstwk scimitar made at +9 bonus * off-hand mstwk scimitar made at +6 bonus (from improved 2 weapon fighting, employing -5 to attack) * attack with either rapier or scimitar at highest attack bonus (+11) afforded by Xeph celerity *second attack with rapier +1 made with +6 bonus (from the second attack afforded by my +11/+6 BAB) Is this correct? I think it would be much easier to understand if I didn't have two attacks per round from my BAB alone. Xeph Celerity only allows me to make "one extra attack each round, using your highest base attack bonus, when you take a full attack action." Do I have this right? -schatten |

Anyway, the -5 penalty from Improved Two-Weapon Fighting stacks with the normal two-weapon fighting penalties. So, with two weapons and Xeph Celerity (assuming a light weapon in your off hand), your attack routine would look like +9/+9/+9/+4/+4 |

Rapiers are also not light weapons, though they are finesse-able. You'd have to use a shortsword. Also, both the main hand and off hand take the two weapon fighting penalties and the -5 from Improved Two-Weapon Fighting is cumulative with existing two-weapon fighting penalties. A good way to remember things is that almost always, your iterative attacks will be multiples of 5 behind your main attack. (The difference of 3 between your main and 2nd attacks should have clued you in) Your attacks should be (assuming you have a +1 enhancement bonus to attack on both weapons): +9/+9/+4 with your main weapon +9/+4 with your offhand weapon I could be wrong, but I believe when an ability references your highest BAB, you go with the main hand (presumably you'd be using the stronger weapon in the main hand anyway). |
