Improved Body Fuel [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-27-07, 06:37 PM I was trying to think of a way to turn the Kalashtar's version of Naturally Psionic into a feat, but just giving it away like that would make Psionic Talent worthless. So I combined the idea with another problem that was vexing me - the suckiness of Body Fuel past a certain level. This is the result.

C&C, please, and let me know if you think of a better name.

AUTOCONSUMPTIVE PSIONICS [PSIONIC]
You can bolster the power of your mind, by slowly consuming your health.
Prerequisites: Body Fuel
Benefit: You can eschew your natural healing, in exchange for an expanded power point pool. The next day, when you normally regain your daily pool of power points, you also gain one bonus power point per character level. You heal neither hit points, nor ability score points.
Normal: You heal 1 hit point per character level, and 1 point of ability damage, with a full night's rest.
Special: Regeneration and fast healing are unaffected by this feat.

07-27-07, 09:18 PM Conceptually, I think it's pretty good. In reality, I'm a little cautious. Natural healing is something that varies by gameplay. In some games, the cost will never come up. In others, it may actually cost "too much" sometimes. Depending on how desperately you need that dash of natural healing. On the bright side, it allows other races to compete with kalashtar in psionic aptitude. But does that then screw over the kalashtar? I don't know. I need help deciding myself.

07-28-07, 12:43 AM Losing natural healing is something that almost costless in most games. The cleric easily replaces any healing you usualy need.

07-28-07, 01:14 AM Natural hitpoint healing is, but ability score healing isn't so easy to replace. Sure, there's Lesser Restoration, if the Cleric prepares it. If you've got an alternate type of a healer like a Crusader, forget it.

07-28-07, 01:25 AM Since when do you field a Crusader as a primary healer?? And you dont need the cleric to always have Lesser Restoration prepared, just have him prep it the day after you take some Ability damage and fix you right up.
