Incorporeal + Metamorphosis (plus another question) [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-02-07, 06:43 AM Hi, I'm new to psionics and bla bla bla (I guess you're used to reading this :)).

Well, I have a couple questions I hope you can help me finding the answer.

1.- What happens when an incorporeal entity uses the metamophosis power? (like Psion Uncarnate using Skin of Proteus) Does he become corporeal while under the effects of the power or does the form he assumes become incorporeal?

2.- I always assumed it didn't, but I just found a post at these boards stating that a 10th level Psion Uncarnate gets his Cha modifier to AC (as usual for incorporeal beings). I thought that the quoted phrase below meant the only difference between both abilities was the duration (permanent for Uncarnate (Ex)).

05-02-07, 09:09 AM Metamorphosis ... Your type and subtype (if applicable) change to match the new form.

The language is imprecise, since subtypes are not exclusive or solitary, so saying your subtype "changes" is confusing. But I think the intent here is clear. You become a normal version of that creature, with its type and subtypes only.

This ability is similar to shed body, except the character is permanently incorporeal (and gains that subtype).

It's similar to shed body, but different, in that you have actually gained the incorporeal subtype, and thus all its associated traits, including a deflection AC bonus.

05-02-07, 10:23 AM Being incorporeal from the Uncarnate PrC is actually a class feature, which you keep when you use metamorphosis. If you were an unbodied and it was a racial feature, you would loose it when using metamorphosis.
