From Magic of Eberron, a personal power that makes your presence "slippery", granting several benefits. My problem is this: augment 1 states "for every additional power point you spend, you can include one additional creature in the effect of this power" - I could interpret this in two different ways:
Option 1: you can "mask" your own presence from additional individuals.
Option 2: you can "mask" the presences of additional individuals from the target.

My question is this: which way do you interpret this augment? Option 1, option 2, or both?

Neither. Faint Memory causes you to be forgotten by people interacting with you. The target of the power is YOU, not a specific person who you attempt to force forgetfulness on. If you augment it, multiple people gain the benefit -- everyone involved is forgotten by people interacting with them.

Consider the analogy of Invisibility vs. Cloud Mind. Faint Memory has the same wording as Invisibility -- it targets you -- not Cloud Mind (which targets a person other than you). Therefore, if you augment Faint Memory, you can affect multiple people in your group who all benefit from it just as you do.

So option #2, then - it masks additional individuals from others!
Thank you for your input!

That's not what you wrote for option 2. Your option 2 was "you can "mask" the presences of additional individuals from the target". Note that the target is YOU, and anyone interacting with you has you "masked". Thus, the augment allows you to target the rest of your party, "masking" them from everyone you interact with.

Basically, if you had it unaugmented, the guard you bluffed wouldn't remember you but would remember the rest of the party. If you had it on the whole party, that guard wouldn't remember anyone -- but importantly, you never targeted him.

You are correct! In spirit the same, but in literal interpretation, different. Mea culpa!
