| JagAgemo10-19-07, 08:30 AM | Well is it??? My GM won't let me use one of the "Expanded Classes" because he believes "if it's not in a book, it's not official" and "we are only goning to use official things for this campain" Not that I'm unhappy with how the game is, but I would like to use a few thing from the Mind's Eye. |
| jtrowell10-19-07, 08:51 AM | It's made by WOTC, and put on their official site, so it is as official as it can be. However behing official doesn't make it core, and the expended classes articles are presented as variants (even if in some cases it's more like a backdoor errata). |
| Bacris10-19-07, 09:27 AM | Does your DM then view the new Dragon / Dungeon articles that WotC is developing as "not official"? They're also not in books, but also developed by WotC. |
| JagAgemo10-19-07, 10:30 AM | The problem was Dragon magazine and the (these) forms and thier ify-ness, now he just want's book or nothing at all )) -nothing at all )) -nothing at all )) (sorry, I couldn't stop my self) |
| AntiDjinn10-19-07, 10:38 AM | My group also uses only materials from bound, non-periodical publications (WotC or otherwise). The DM's just got too annoyed with the volatile nature of web material as well as the general lack of playtesting. The Mind's Eye is "official" WotC in that is it written by a WotC game developer. It is not produced by the standard R&D department (which may account for the fact that is has less than 1/10th the errors and typos that have appeared in recent hard-bound "official" books). Material in the Dragon may or may not be from R&D; the original edition of the Erudite appears to have gone directly from the author to publication without intermediated development steps. Additional development was post-market (fans sent their input) and the revised edition ended up in Complete Psionics. If your DM decides to allow the Mind's Eye, he might want to wait until each article gets archived, because corrections have been made and the archived edition is the stable edition. |

It is as official as any other non-core books published by WotC. Mind's Eye is "official" web enhancement. Why do you have to pay money for everything that's official? Your GM has that much money to throw around? Send the $ my way. However, do know that some of the Mind's Eye materials are 3.0 |
| InkBlot10-19-07, 05:42 PM | some of the Mind's Eye materials are 3.0 There's a notice right on the Mind's Eye archives page stating what material is 3.0, and what material is 3.5. Anything published in The Mind's Eye after the release of the Expanded Psionics Handbook (April 2004, IIRC) is definitely 3.5. |

They've also updated certain things from older minds eye articles to be used in 3.5, like (my favorite) the Sagehirn. Mmmmm, Fast healing and Damage reduction...and healing powers...mmmmmmmm. |
