From Countdown to the Realms: The Wailing Years (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20080227a)
The former expanse of the Sea of Fallen Stars is altered when wide portions of the landscape collapse into the Underdark. When the sea level reaches its new equilibrium, the average drop in water level measured nearly 50 feet. The waters of the Vilhon Reach were similarly drained, uncovering several drowned ruins from ancient Jhaamdath.

Hopefully this presages more love for psionics in the realms.

I wouldn't mind so much, except RA Salvatore's Drizzt series has been crushed.

Other than that, I'm not sure I care that much.

According to Salvatore's most recent book, everybody but Drizzt dies in the cataclysm, so there goes all of my favorite characters, damnitall. I LIKE Cattie Brie!

I will be fair and take a look at the FRCG.
I want to see Drizzt die. It wont happen though WotC will ride that gravy train.. well forever if they can.

I suspect Jhaamdath will be revived when FR gets the PBH II update, as they need a place in the relms for psi.

And if they don't, I'm doing just that, as another empire to oppose netheril.

as an aside they have already mentioned a revival of Jhaamdath as a civilization here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/frcc/20070620)

Presumably the turmoil cause by the new "ToT" will give the Scions a chance to escape/refound thier culture on a local scale and serve as a springboard to revive psionics as a non monster power source again.

There is also the whole "lathander becoming Auppenser" sub arc that might come into play.

Auppensar? If anything, he'd be merging with what's left of Amauntor. Anyway, it's true that there's been a little more about Jhaamdath - such as that great article on psionic races in the Realms and what it said about Elans - and I wouldn't mind finding a bit more about it. However, I don't think it's necessary to bring it back - there are a few other races with a notable psionic tradition and a few organizations for psionic players.

That would reinject more life in my beloved Realms. Another + for me.
