This may have been coverd but, what ever happened to Kinetic Control from 2E? Has anyone seen it updated to 3E?

Kinetic Control was too powerful in 2E and not ported to 3E.

The clostest powers would be Energy Conversion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/energyConversion.htm) which allows you to absorb energy and later fire off rays of that energy type.

For physical damage, you can absorb large amounts of damage by using the Psicrystal/Share Pain/Vigor combo.

Kinetic Control let you absorb physical damage and then later turn it against your enemy, right? There are several powers which hurt your enemies when they hurt you.

Forced Share Pain (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersQtoW.html#share-pain-forced) - Target one enemy, whenever you take damage (from any source) you only take half and your enemy takes the remainder.

Empathic Feedback (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersDtoF.html#empathic-feedback) - Any time any enemy strikes you in melee, it takes as much damage as you do (max 5 points).

Hostile Empathic Transfer (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersDtoF.html#empathic-transfer-hostile) - Transfer up to 50 points of damage from yourself to one enemy.

Fate Link (http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/psionicPowersDtoF.html#fate-link) - Target two creatures. Any time either creature is hurt, the other creature is also hurt the same way and for the same amount.

It was updated to 3e -- as an epic spell (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/spells/kineticControl.htm).

Note how it had to be powered down to see use as an epic spell with a Spellcraft DC of 100.

And people nowadays wonder why people hated psionics so much in 2e.

The closest power to Kinetic Control in 3.5 would be Empathic Feedback. Untapped Potential has a similar effect, Kinetic Aura, but it's somewhat rougher and stands a far higher chance of blowing up in your face.

I loved it, my DM never really got it though. Man did he hate Control Body, and Kinetic Control. :P

A non-epic version of that power should be possible, it would just need to have a lot more limitations on it. Look at it as being Inertial Barrier combined with Hammer, or as a Forced Share Pain that lets you switch targets each round.

This is my attempt at a non-epic Kinetic Control.
Kinetic Control
Psychokinesis
Level: Kineticist 6, psychic warrior 5
Display: Auditory and visual
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal and touch; see text
Duration: 1 minute/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Power Resistance: Yes
Power Points: Kineticist 11, psychic warrior 9

You can absorb, store, and redirect the energy contained in any attack (melee or ranged) which deals bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. You gain damage reduction 5/--. Any time this damage reduction prevents damage, you store up the energy and can discharge it later with a touch attack. If you successfully touch a target, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to the amount of damage that you have stored, up to a maximum of four times your manifester level.

As long as this power remains in effect, you can continue to absorb damage and make additional touch attacks using the stored damage. When this power ends, you take the remaining damage yourself (most manifesters will discharge the remaining damage into the ground before this happens).

You can use this power to store up to five points of damage per level. If this limit is exceeded, you take the excess damage and the power instantly ends (which may also damage you, see above).

Augment: You can augment this power in one or more of the following ways.
1. For every 3 additional power points you spend, your damage reduction increases by 1.

2. If you spend 4 additional power points, you can manifest this power as an immediate action.

3. If you spend 4 additional power points, the duration of this power increases to 10 minutes per level.

This was the version I came up with awhile ago.

Kinetic Control
Psychokinesis
Level: Psychic warrior 4, Psion/wilder 5
Display: Visual
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 round per level or until discharged (D)
Saving Throw: No
Power Resistance: Yes
Power Points: Psychic warrior 7, Psion/wilder 9
This power allows you to absorb, store, and redirect the energy contained in any physical (melee or ranged) attack. You can absorb 5 points from each slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing attack made against you and are able save it for later use. You can absorb up to 25 points of damage in this fashion; however, if the stored damage is not discharged prior to reaching the 25 point limit, the power automatically discharges, dealing the 25 points of damage to you.

You keep track of the number of points of damage you have absorbed (you don’t have to keep track of the type of damage). At any time during the power’s duration, you can make a touch or melee weapon attack against another creature or object. If successful, you deal some or all (your choice) of the points of damage you have had stored to the target. You must decide the amount of stored damage being used prior making an attack. If your attack misses, you still expend the stored damage. The damage delivered is considered bludgeoning damage.

You can absorb and discharge damage any number of times during the power’s duration, so long as you don’t absorb more than 25 points at a time. When the power expires, any stored damage you have not redirected is discharged into you.

Augment: For every 4 additional power points you spend, the damage you are able to absorb with each attack made against you increases by 1 and the total limit you can store increases by 5. Additionally, if you spend 4 additional power points, you can discharge the damage stored though missile weapons.
