Oregwath 07-30-07, 12:18 AM	I built a Kineticist who makes his living as a demolitionist, and at level four, I realize that every one of his powers are Psychokinetict, not just his energy powers. Building off that, I looked to see if there where any Prestige Classes that run along the line of a Kineticist. Pyromancer doesn't fit, because he doesn't burn down random buildings, he is a profesional who brings down large structures with explosions. I noticed there was one for Psychoportation, the elocator, but I haven't been able to find one for the Kineticist. If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. The basics of the char are in my sig, under Keb. :P
Tempest Stormwind 07-30-07, 01:11 AM	Only one that comes to mind is the Energist, in Untapped Potential. It's something of a psychokinesis-focused archmage.

It may be difficult to get the dm to allow it since it is "third party" but I will be giving it a try. On a side note, just from what I have seen of untapped potential so far, it has gained a spot on the (rather short) list of books I allow in games I run.

(Doubly so, since I was one of the authors and the editor... the energist went through more revisions than any other PrC, and was one of the first ones we came up with conceptually. Also, its required feat -- Spirit of the Attuned -- was the birth of the book's Mantra idea.) If your DM won't allow it because it's third-party, just ask for opinions on the book, especially in regards to its balance. I'm no doubt biased in saying so, but I believe he'll be pleasantly surprised at the feedback.
Oregwath 07-30-07, 02:41 AM	I think that since he has until level 12 to decide on it, and we are only level four, I will be able to talk him around to it. The more I read over this class the more convinced I am that it is the class I want. I also like the elan paragon.... next character maybe. :dancin: Also, I think I will be taking psionic meditation on the way, since it looks like I will be expending my psionic focus nearly every round. :D
Tempest Stormwind 07-30-07, 02:45 AM	Also consider either Psicrystal Affinity / Psicrystal Containment or Psionic Body / Subconscious Containment. Those feats may pay off more in the long run than Psionic meditation, and work wonderfully well *with* it. The former's probably stronger, but the latter works if you don't want a pet rock or if you are a nonmanifester (i.e. a Wild Talent or similar).
MnemonicSV 07-30-07, 02:46 AM	Another option: If your Kineticist has many [force] powers on his list, talk to your DM about adapting the Argent Savant prestige class (from Complete Arcane) for psionic use instead of arcane. It is ready-made and requires no class ability alterations of any kind. Simply change the skill prerequisites from Knowledge (arcana) to Knowledge (psionics), and Spellcraft to Psicraft; The spell requirements would of course be power requirements. Every class ability of the Argent Savant ports over equally well to power usage. The only downside is there aren't many [force] powers available. Still, using the 5th-level Unbind Force ability in conjunction with, say, Telekinetic Maneuver (think Psicrystal + Solicit Psicrystal) is an entertaining way to make your foes unexpectedly "go boom." Especially since you can't fail dispel checks against powers you have manifested yourself. If your DM further allows it, the Argent Savant could also be adapted to a specific energy type (as noted in the Adaptation section).
Oregwath 07-30-07, 03:05 AM	I was going to take psicrystal affinity with my next bonus psionic feat, so psicrystal containment would be perfect (I still have five feats before I meet the skill reqs ;) ). As for the Argent Savant, thank you. For some reason my brain decided to die and I completely forgot about adapting an arcane class to psionics. The Energist fits better for flavor for my character, but seeing as how it is shaky I will keep the Argent Savant in the wings, just in case. And if he refuses both of them, well, I guess a level 20 psion would have a powerful psicrytal, right? :weep:
CrimsonDeath 07-30-07, 03:18 AM	Psion 20 is one of the strongest 20-level manifester builds out there. When I made my first Psion, I looked at all the prestiege classes available (at the time) and made a conscious decision not to take any of them. That's not to say that you shouldn't take a prestiege class if you want to, only that it's not tragic if you can't.
Oregwath 07-30-07, 03:29 AM	I know that psions are good to go, the psions and the druids are the only classes I would ever think of not prestige classing in. Like I said, I waited until level four before I even started to think about the prestige class. :) (I normally have the prestige class picked out before play begins.) However, if I can give up one manifester level in order to get the extra options that either the Energist or the Argent Savant hands out, well, it seems a good trade. Also, this is an eberron campaign with heroes of horror thrown in, we have all been tainted already, and I have nearly died several times (thank vol for psychoactive skins, or I would already be on my second char) so every drop of power I can wring out of this char I am going to need.
