Learning powers from other class lists. [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-11-07, 09:42 PM Is there a quicker way to add new powers to my character's list than the expanded knowledge feat, it's great an all, just to learn all the powers I want, I'll need something to the tune of five feats, which annoys me, because I already have too many powers from the psychic warrior list for my concept.

03-11-07, 09:56 PM Besides Expanded Knowledge, the only way is to use the independant research rules. Take some time researching, pay some XP, make a psicraft check, and BAM you add a new power to your class list. Check page 64 of the Expanded Psionics Handbook.

Don't forget that you have to get your DM to approve the research first, otherwise your character might end up spending all that time and XP for nothing.

03-12-07, 09:51 AM researching only adds the feat to your class list though. you still have to learn it.

the only other way that i know of is to use psychic chirurgery. or rather, have someone else use it on you. which should, generally speaking, require a special quest to obtain...

03-12-07, 10:31 AM If you're playing a wilder then you should look at the Mantled Wilder and Educated Wilder variants (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a) from The Mind's Eye.

Mantled Wilder adds one whole mantle of powers (a small themed list like a cleric's domain) to your power list. However, you must still use up a power-known to learn them. So it gives you a lot of extra freedom of choice, but not much more actual power.

Educated Wilder gives you 4 bonus Expanded Knowledge feats in exchange for the Volatile Mind class feature. This sounds like it's just one feat short exactly what you wanted ("I'll need something to the tune of five feats").
