| pud05-24-07, 02:29 AM | Has there been any word as to whether or not you can use Linked Power to link a power with a standard (or longer) manifesting time to a power with a swift/immediate manifesting time? (ie Energy Missile linked to Primal Fear.) |
| Cala, Legend Reborn05-24-07, 04:10 AM | By RAW, there's no such mention... which kinda makes Link Power potentially better than Quicken with certain power combinations. >.>;; |
| pud05-24-07, 02:08 PM | Yeah, like Timeless Body which can't be quickened or Psychic Reformation which usually takes 10 minutes to manifest. |
| hovnarr05-24-07, 03:16 PM | Oh goodie! Won't you love that as a DM. Player: "And for round 2, I'm redrafting my character!" |
| Rageheart05-24-07, 04:35 PM | If I could get that past my Dm I'd have 2-3 Default Configurations drawn up and ready to go. ...I'd be like a Transformer! :D (but wow, the XP cost sux.) |
| Lokiyn05-24-07, 05:32 PM | Ah, but what exp cost? A literal reading implies that you spend nothing except for power points on the second power. |

| Jaid05-24-07, 08:00 PM | just a side note, from what i remember, both powers have to target the same person. so linking an energy missile is usually not a good idea, since most immediate powers are self-targetting :P |
| pud05-24-07, 08:30 PM | just a side note, from what i remember, both powers have to target the same person. so linking an energy missile is usually not a good idea, since most immediate powers are self-targetting :P Hence the reason Primal Fear was suggested in the first post. A literal reading implies that you spend nothing except for power points on the second power. Right. What exactly does Linked Power let you slime your way out of? Long manifests, Quicken restrictions, XP costs... What a great feat! :( |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli05-24-07, 08:33 PM | What a great feat! :( And that is accompanied by a ":(" face why? Ok, so it might be broken but certainly something like ":P " would be more appropriate? |
| Explosive_Zombie05-25-07, 04:14 AM | I never thought about the wording on this one... but now that I have I think I NEED to take this feat! :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh |
| Cala, Legend Reborn05-25-07, 06:04 AM | The power that is manifested in this round is not altered in any way, nor is the linked power that goes off in the next round--however, you do not need to spend any of your actions or power points next round to manifest the linked power. I wouldn't be too sure on that literal reading... From that, I think manifesting times, XP costs, etc, would still be as normal. It's still a useful trick, regardless. |
| The Livewire05-25-07, 08:49 AM | The problem with the Feat is that it a) says the power is unchanged b) then changes the power. In essense, you can argue that the 'power' you're manifesting is not a power so much as an augment of the original power as it's a metapsionic feat. Because you 'don't have to spend an action' some read that as it goes off next round, regardless of manifest time. (The part of the description after your bold) Like most of Complete Psionic, it's vaugely written and poorly edited :-( |
