| coggro07-07-07, 09:11 AM | I'm making a Kineticist for a game over VOIP, and I can't find the rules for the maximum amount of power points I can spend per manifestation of a power. I'm pretty sure there is a rule because the last time I played psionics I broke it and ruined the adventure.... Anyone want to clue me in and give me a page reference? |
| red_scare8707-07-07, 09:21 AM | A power that can be augmented for additional effects is also limited by your manifester level (you can't spend more power points on a power than your manifester level). Hope that helps. |
| coggro07-07-07, 09:24 AM | So as a 1st level Psion, my manifester level is 1, and I can only spend 1 power point on a power? I don't mean to be difficult, I just want to make sure I understand this correctly... |
| Urisk07-07-07, 09:24 AM | From http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicPowersOverview.htm#powerPoints The maximum number of points you can spend on a power (for any reason) is equal to your manifester level. This includes PP cost for the power, the augmentation, metapsionic feats etc.. For example manifesting an astral construct, augmenting it to create a 2nd level construct and using extend power to extend the duration would cost a total of 1 (astral construct) + 2 (augmentation) + 2 (extend power) = 5 Power Points. You would need to have a character with Manifester Level 5 to manifest this power in this way. EDIT: And yes, your Manifester Level usually is equal to your Class Levels in the psionic class that grants you the ability to manifest powers. This may be modified by class features (Wild Surge class feature of the Wilder) or feats for example (Overchannel from the Expanded Psionics Handbook or Practiced Manifester (for those guys multiclassing) from the Complete Psionic.) within certain limits which are noted in the books. ;) |
| Caterpillar07-07-07, 09:28 AM | You can also take the overchannel feat to burn some of your own HP to increase your manifester level for augmenting your powers. |
| coggro07-07-07, 09:29 AM | Thanks, guys. Got it now. I knew I could turn to the boards for an answer :-) |

| Lycanthromancer07-07-07, 05:23 PM | This is also covered by the FAQ at the top of the forum. And Tempest comes to the rescue again. It's amazing how the FAQ is the answer to everything. I guess it really DOES answer the Frequently Asked Questions. And no, that was in no way sarcastic or snarky. Promise. ;) |
| Infinitum07-08-07, 12:54 AM | Bah, I hate the FAQ. :( |
| Tempest Stormwind07-08-07, 01:11 AM | Bah, I hate the FAQ. :( Tell me why and I'll see what I can do to fix it. |
| Infinitum07-08-07, 06:17 PM | Tell me why and I'll see what I can do to fix it. Its so.....FAQey.....it needs to be spruced up a bit, make it interesting =) Maybe "Cheese for Everyone!" or something.... |

| BloodSpill07-09-07, 06:13 AM | The FAQ is too long. There should be a grumpy little mascot giving one line answers to one line questions with extra detail in smaller font or spoiler blocks. Q. How many PP can I spend on a power A. :twitch: Your manifester level! Stop breaking your game! ARCHGHGH! goes here. Of course, that's just one idea. |

| The_Ditto07-09-07, 10:48 AM | But a good one! At least I think so. ;) Seconded ... Short 1 sentence answer provided .. but detailed explanation contained in sblocks ... I think that would make it easier to read ... :D |
| Tempest Stormwind07-09-07, 11:38 AM | And I'll get on that this evening. |
