When I first read up on the rules for the Metaconcert power, I had no idea how the damn thing worked. And by the looks of what I found online... nobody else seems to have figured it out either -_-

Seriously, HOW does a blob of stringy stuff sticking out of a bunch of people's foreheads manifest powers?!

Someone should ask Julian May how it is supposed to function conceptually since it was "adapted" (right down to borrowing the title from one of her novels) from her work.

The stringy blob thing is a surely mental entity. The fact that it's a blob is just how it manifests.

As far as I can tell, it's its own target, and acts on the Conductor's Initiative roll, under the Conductor's command (like a druid's animal companion). It has the pool of all the participants PP and powers, and has one swift, one move and one standard action per round. If targetted with any damaging effects it instead is transferred to the group, with the conductor getting the brunt of it if it can't be split evenly.

The entity manifests powers at the ML of the participant who knows that power (the highest, if more than one knows it).

The entity cannot move of it's own accord, it is the center of the 20 foot radius.

Apparently all of the members of the Metaconcert can also manifest powers if they want seperately. So you have, effectively, 11 people manifesting where there usually is 10.

That's how I see it, anyway. Dunno if it's right.

metaconcert is one of the most confusing powers out there. there is at least one (and probably 2) rewrites, at least, that i know of:

there is a rewrite of the power in untapped potential (3rd party book) if i'm not mistaken.
in all probability, lycanthromancer's rewrites of the powers probably has one. possibly the same as the one in untapped potential.

alternately, you could go with how the power which is extremely similar from 2nd edition (convergence) worked, iirc: all involved are considered to know all the powers, share each other's power points, and can each manifest individually. iirc.

Check my sig for the powers revision if you want to see it.

[edit] I went and looked at metaconcert again after posting this, and made a few extra adjustments.
