Hello All. I was wondering if, under the transparency rule, metapsionic and metamagic feats would operate as one another? Ex: Could I take quicken spell and also treat it as if I am taking the quicken power feat also?

I am making a Cerebromancer for my DMs next campaign and if this works it will save me some feats. Thanks in advance all.

Nope, they don't work in standard transparency.

It'd be a house-rule.

Ok Ty Bacris. Do you think such a house rule would overpower such a character? Now that I think of it, it might do so as my DM hasnt traditionally thrown us up against many casters and we already have another wizard in the party. :)

It would greatly increase the power and efficacy of any Cerebremancer.

It might give psionic characters access to meta feats which are overpowered even for magic. Of course you could just say that the houserule can't give you feats that don't exist, so if there's no psionic version then you're out of luck. Also, these hypothetical broken meta feats should have been banned/nerfed in the first place.

Cerebremancers could probably use a bit of overpowering. They're already a spell level and a power level behind their single-class counterparts (more if they're Sorcerors/Warmages/Beguilers). Of course, metamagic hardly fixes that particular problem, since you'll just be metamagicking even lower level powers. (Have fun with that Maximized Ray of Frost.)

As written the feats do not crossover; the mechanics detailed for psionic versions simply don't exist for spellcasters and vice-versa. But if you decide to houserule that Quicken Power may be used as Quicken Spell it will not send your game spiraling into chaos.

I would draw the line at metafeats. You still pay for a meta when you use it (in terms of more power points or spell levels) as well as when you take it. For example, the psionic feat Boost Construct should not count as Augment Summoning.

The discussion from the Magic Item Compendium thread, yeilded that Craft Arms+Armor and Craft Universal Item now allow Psi- to make the Magic versions. Something else has to supply the magic juice. Not bad.
Also a feat in Dragon #349 lets an item crafting feat work for both - unrestricted by which direction ... just only on one type of Craft feat. Not good - nor efficient, but some metapsionic feats are "cheaper" than the same metamagic feat.
Have fun. :)
