Can it be done? Can one Maximize/Empower Claws of the Beast?

No. The power itself doesn't actually deal damage.

On a side note it is metapsionics not metamagic.

Right--that's what I meant :D

Hmmm... too bad on the no metapsionics for that. Would be so uber.

You can Extend them, Link them, Chain them, and Quicken them. :)

You can't chain them. Claws of the beast doesn't deal acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic damage.

Although of the handful of powers that can be chained, most of them are on the psywar list.

Nope, can't quicken, manifesting time is already a swift action. Nor can you Chain them, the power prohibits it (as in CotB don't deal energy damage). I found only 2 meta-psionic feats (in the XPH) that could be applied to CotB. These are Extend and Unconditional. (You might be able to Delay it too)

Ack. I was thinking claws of energy.

Oh...um...nope, that wasn't me.

'Twas a case of mistaken identity?

Sort of related and can't find anything on it thru the forum search function.

Does the Improved Natural Attack feat work in conjunction with CotB?

I'd say yes unless it's ruled you must have the natural attacks available to you all the time.

My guess is that you don't need them available to you all the time. I've seen lycanthropes in published content that have the INW feat and they certainly don't have access to natural weaponry at all times.

That's probably usually because the base animal had INA, and the lycanthrope gains all the base animal's feats.

However, example characters sometimes take feats that they only qualify for because of items they carry, which indicates that conditionally meeting a feat requirement allows you to gain the feat.

Well, the claws are a part of you, since they're a product of your mind. Taking a feat to work with a power is simply good synergy.

If a DM has a problem with it, then I feel sorry for the players.
