| Psikerlord05-18-07, 09:01 AM | In my view you should be able to use metapsionic and metamagic feats interchangeably... But, strictly speaking, I don't think there's any rule that makes it so. Magic-psionics transparency doesn't seem to cover feats. It seems to me however that if a cleric/mage can take one empower feat and use it on both divine and arcane spells, a psion/mage should be able to do the same. |
| Bacris05-18-07, 10:35 AM | Nope, they don't work interchangably. You could house-rule it and have them behave as their appropriate counterpart, since otherwise spellcasters would be paying extra power points and expending focus :p but by the rules, nope, they don't work like that. |
| AntiDjinn05-18-07, 11:33 AM | A wizard/cleric who knows Empower Spell can apply it to both his arcane and divine spells. If you were to allow a psion/druid to use Empower Power as Empower Spell to be applied to his divine casting then it won't affect the balance of your game. The only restriction I would apply is that the equivalent metamagic feat has to exist. Burrowing Spell and Unconditional Spell do not exist in the standard game; these metapsionic effects are unique and should remain so. Psionic feats that have effects on powers (such as Boost Construct and Skin of the Construct) should not cross-over. They are not metapsionic and so have no reason to be considered transparent with metamagic. |

So you pay for the slot and you pay for the equavalent pp expense. A 3rd level spell costs that 3rd level slot - metamagic'd up 2 levels costs 4 pp. In essence it's an even deal, and one feat yields psionic flexiblilty on metamagic. If you are willing to play with recharge set-ups, i.e. your DM is, it is better than the un-errata'd arcane thesis. Chameleon Crafting lets a "spell" be put on a psionic item, or a "power" be put on a magic item. Best uses are Warlock 12 makes any arcane or divine "spell" and puts 3 charges in a powerstone. One to use, one for emergency, one to recharge the item. First thru Third level "spells" can be put on psi-tattoos and be repeated ala some of Lokiyn's stuff. "Spells" above 4th level can be put on Dorjes and go above 10th caster level in leveling up, but you'd need the Epic feat ... "Powers" can be put on a Staff and get the whole UMD thing going. It's all kinda inefficient but has specific CO-board style uses. Have fun. |

Right now it's on par with the Mystic Theurge since it can have the same ability apply to both its arcane and psionic casting classes, while the MT can have feats apply to both its arcane and divine casting classes. |

The Archivist and Shugenja let the Mystic Theurge apply the same ability to both arcane and divine casting. (And the Ardent lets the Psychic Theurge do the same.) |
