Metamorph: Lasting effects? [Archive] - Wizards Community

is there any official rule about the continuity of effects which I trigger when I am metamorphed after my metamorphosis ends?

Example:
My psion turns into a Quanlos (MM IV, p. 122). The Quanlos injects its devouring larvae (Ex) into a victim.
After ten minutes the psion reverts to his human state as the power ends.
Does the devouring effect end also now after 10 min?
I would assume not, but I have nothing to prove it other than I also cant find anything against it.

Ideas?:confused:

05-31-07, 04:53 PM I would imagine it WOULD end. The larvae only came into existence because of the spell, they were technically metamorphosed from part of your own body.

05-31-07, 05:16 PM Body parts separated from the whole revert to their pre-Metamorphosis state. I'm assuming that since there is no analogue in your original body, that they would turn into your spleen or something.

05-31-07, 05:27 PM As it says "treat it like a poison" I would assume that in this case it would stay after metamorphosis ends. Other creatures that lay eggs I would say no (unless there are extenuating circumstances), they would turn into ovum or sperm (depending on the gender of the manifester) once the power ends.

05-31-07, 06:40 PM Wether or not your alien man-baby persists after the metamorphosis ends depends on wether or not it's considered part of your body, or a new creature of it's own. It's difficult to tell when an unborn/unhatched/larval child can be considered an individual, but I'd be willing to say that it is one as soon as it can squirm around apart from you and under it's own power.

Oh wow. This is starting to sound like an abortion debate.

Yep, I guess then I go with continued effect for this (as poison also).

And I seriously do not want to discuss wether killing the larvae is against animals rights and propagating abortion... ;)
