| Lunakat10-02-07, 01:59 PM | Just gettin back into dnd lately. Got a Egoist5/Elocator3 with Metamorphasis. I'm built with the spiked chain / combat reflexes AOO setup. What are some good metamorphasis choices I could go for. I'd like to get something to make use of the chain and feats, a large creature, 4 legged perhaps for tripping. Other fun suggestions are welcome too. Thanks, Luna~ |
| InkBlot10-02-07, 02:12 PM | Centaur maybe? They're also fast, to fit with the elocator theme. |
| Lunakat10-02-07, 02:57 PM | Can you advance a creature to use with metamorphoses? was thinkin bout usin centaur but I wanted something with more STR. Thanks, Luna~ |
| Knight010-02-07, 03:40 PM | Cave Troll, Lots of Ex Attacks. |
| Lunakat10-02-07, 04:27 PM | Cave Troll, Lots of Ex Attacks. I didnt think you got extra attacks from metamorphosis, otherwise I'd take a hydra... Luna~ |
| PhaedrusXY10-02-07, 04:39 PM | Not EXTRA attacks, Extraordinary attacks. |
| Lunakat10-02-07, 05:01 PM | So, would morphing to a 8 headed hydra grant you 8 bite attacks per round? If you morphed into say a tiger would you get claw/claw/bite per round? From SRD* *You also gain all extraordinary special attacks possessed by the form (such as constrict, improved grab, and poison) but do not gain the extraordinary special qualities possessed by the new form (such as blindsense, fast healing, regeneration, and scent) or any supernatural, psionic, or spelllike abilities. *A body with extra limbs does not allow you to make more attacks (or more advantageous two-weapon attacks) than normal. Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered before. Luna~ |
| PhaedrusXY10-02-07, 05:16 PM | I'm not sure if you're missing the point of Knight0's post (and my attempted clarification), or are just asking an entirely separate question. Knight0 suggested the Cave Troll because it has good extraordinary attacks, not because it gives you extra attacks. As to whether you get all the attacks when you turn into a hydra... it isn't entirely clear. There are good arguments on both sides of the issue. I think the most literal interpretation says that you do get them for the hydra, but only for the hydra, due to its wonky attack mechanic. The "Sage" has indicated that you get all the natural attacks of your new form with all such "Polymorph based" mechanics in his Rules of the Game articles. So really, it is up to each DM to determine for his campaign. |
| InkBlot10-02-07, 05:29 PM | Can you advance a creature to use with metamorphoses? No, you can't. You just turn into the basic creature. No extra hit die, no elite scores, no templates. |
| hovnarr10-02-07, 05:55 PM | Also, if you're a psion5/elc3, you should be looking at 7 HD creatures, not 8 HD, unless you have Overchannel or some such. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. First off, your feat/power set up is irrelevant, or it only matters in so far as Psychic Reformation matters. Typically, getting optimal feats and powers for your egoist is only 10 minutes and 350 XP away. If that, if you use a power stone. GET Metamorphic Transfer. That puts the available forms into perspective. At your level, consider: *Pixie: Dex 18 on a tiny, flying body that transfers Greater Invisibility and is only 1 HD *7 HD pyro/cryohydra: 21d6 (Su) damage bypasses SR/PR *Cloaker: Hold Monster as an (Ex) ability that bypass most protections against the effect. Doesn't even cost a transfer. *Annis Hag: Good combat form with or without spiked chain. *Choker: Quickness means 2 powers/round when necessary. |
| Lunakat10-03-07, 03:37 PM | Good info, another question; When you morph do you take your base hit points and adjust to the new creatures con bonus or do you get your new form's base hp's? |
| hovnarr10-03-07, 04:31 PM | your own base hp |
