| Ljok08-20-07, 03:24 AM | Here is the basic description: Mind Blast (Sp): This psionic attack is a cone 60 feet long. Those caught in the cone must succeed on a DC 19 Will save or be stunned for 3d4 rounds. This ability is the equivalent of a 4th-level spell. I've got a feeling that Mind Blank can protect one against this Illithid's ability, but I can find nothing to support this thought. If I'm wrong, is there any other ideas how to protect the party? Thanks :) |

| runestar08-20-07, 07:45 AM | I am personally not aware of that many sources which make you immune to stunning. Any suggestions? For what it is worth, the psionic blast power in the XPH does have the mind affecting descriptor...:P |
| Ljok08-20-07, 10:24 AM | Thanx :) |
| Ljok08-22-07, 10:01 AM | I am personally not aware of that many sources which make you immune to stunning. Any suggestions? STONE BODY, Clr6, Wiz/Src6 Spell Compendium, p. 207 :) |
| runestar08-22-07, 10:11 AM | That is personal only, IIRC. And comes a little too late to protect against a mindflayer. Anything which can help out your party fighter and rogue, who are the ones more likely to fail their will saves? |
| Tedronai08-23-07, 01:11 AM | Mass Conviction (Cleric 3, Spell Compendium) gives a scaling morale bonus on all saves to several individuals, or I believe Conviction (the single-target version) is available at spell lvl 2 |
| AntiDjinn08-23-07, 03:20 AM | By the wording Mind Blank, Psionic protects against: devices, powers, and spells that detect, influence, or read emotions or thoughts. It protects against powers (also spells, with transparency) with the mind-affecting or scrying descriptors (except Metafaculty). Oddly, supernatural, spell-like, and psi-like abilities are not on the list. This it probably an oversight; the arcane version protects against spells and effects (handy catch-all) with such descriptors, and it is likely the power was meant to as well. |
