Mind's Eye? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-17-07, 10:21 PM Anyone know the future of the Mind's Eye articles? Will there be more on the website or are they going to be integrated into the new digital Dragon Magazine?

08-17-07, 10:28 PM I can't speak for certain because I don't know.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if they were moved to D&DInsider. Design & Development were moved there.

I know there are still articles in the editing cycle until around November or so (Mark's kept us informed); after that I doubt new ones will show up until we have a 4e psionics book. (That said, I can *definitely* see an adaptation guide...)

I just got on the new site this morning at my first thought was to find out what happened to all the older articles. The Mind's Eye stuff is in the 3.5 archive section, sans the expanded classes articles (though the besitary seems to contain the more recent monsters).

Actually, on checking the all archives are empty in the main bit where you're supposed to be searching for them apart from one or two very recent ones!

What. The. Hell. Are they playing at!?

And for that matter (and I shall be taking this point oiver to the 4E boards momentarily) I notice that despite it saying forum users don't need to register with D&DInsider, it currently is not accepting any attempts to sign in except as a guest. And am I the only one who finds the phrases that "Dragon articles require that you sign-in to D&D Insider to view the content. As a courtesy you may currently view this content while signed in as a Guest" is seriously patronising?! "As a curtesy" we're allowed to view something that Wizards are trying to get us to buy?! Who ever wrote that needs to be taken out and shot, because I find it really offensively phrased.

Well, aside from my reservations on the skills, I wasn't too opposed to 4E, but if they're going to start be complete and total asshats about it, then I'll be changing my mind very fast!

The archive script is all that's busted.

We needed to remove the majority of the index that builds the D&D site because of high volume. The links will all return in a few days.

If you want to reach the Mind's Eye articles, just Google Search for the specific one you want; it'll still be online.

It just bugged me first thing in the morning...

[Side rant]They really, really didn't think enough about the volume of traffic they'd generate, did they.

I think too, trying to do a simulataneous release wih GenCon may not have been all that helpful, since there's been a lot of miscommunication, bad feeling and technolgical ineptitude (meaning the technology being inept) which has rather coloured the launch that could have been better addressed if the staff were closer to hand. (I note that the 4E threads that are supposedly constructive are going to stop being, since they've got so huge and people are asking the same question that's been asked in the threads earlier and we've got no information to go on.)[/side rant]

the designer said approximately about 2E to 3E conversions being scientific:
" ... we're not going to do that ... "

around the 9:00 minute mark,
the designer said ~ about what the new mechanics would be like:
" ... I think you should do it the way you did it in this (new) book ... "

Obviously, this does not refer to most of CPsi ... ;)

As for the missing links, I'm glad I downloaded the pdf versions of those articles.

I'm kind of bummed that psionics will continue to be the redheaded stepchild of D&D rather than the appear in the PHB, but I guess that's the way most fans want it.

I noticed that I can't log in as anything other than "guest". I'm guessing that's a glitch they'll have to fix soon.

2) The login on the main D&D site is the D&D Insider login, which to my knowledge hasn't been initiated yet. It's NOT your Gleemax forum login.

Yeah, I got that form the other posters. I'm just saying that it's easier to view the documents on my hard drive than to try to find them without the index.
