Mindlink; first level Telepath psion ability [Archive] - Wizards Community

I have question on the Telepathic ability of Mindlink, 1st level. Once the person(s) you wish to set up with a Mindlink, do you still have to be in the Range (25 ft +5 ft/2 levels)? Can you be on one end of a town the person you wish to contact is at the other end of town even though you have already set the Mindlink ahead of time? Can you contact them any time you want as long as you have points?

Can someone clear this up for me?

Its kind of seems like a waste of time to Mindlink with someone then run some distance away to a destination with the limitations on the time that it can be used.:confused:

05-31-07, 10:15 PM Mindlink (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/mindlink.htm)'s description clearly states: "Once the bond is formed, it works over any distance (although not from one plane to another)."

06-01-07, 12:32 AM It is not an ability, it is a power. Manifesting this power is a standard action. It has a range of "Close" (25 feet + 5 feet/2 manifester levels) and requires a willing target with an Int of 3 or higher. The power's text does state that once the link is established distance is not a factor as long as you and the subject are on the same plane.That is for the duration of the power (10 minutes per manifester level) not for the rest of your or the subject's life.

As far as just needing points to use it again in the future, No, you still have to manifest it as a power, which means spending points, not just having them. Once its duration runs out you have to manifest it again so your target has to be in range at that point. There are no special considerations for manifesting it again on a taget with whom you have been previously Mind Linked.
