The various Monk+Psionic prestige classes I've found all advance the monk abilities plus one new known power at each level.

Are there Monk-oriented prestige classes which provide any degree of advancement in an existing manifestor class instead? Is such a class just too unbalanced?

None I know of has been published as of yet.

However you can take the Enlightened Fist from the Complete Arcane and change it abit to get such a class.

Not quite what you asked for, but there is a feat in Secrets of Sarlona called Tashalatora. Your levels in a Psionic class stack with Monk levels for the purposes of Unarmed Damage, Flurry of Blows, and the AC bonus.

Hardly, given that you can get a lot more PPs as a Fist of Zuoken than as a monk/psywarrior, which is the only manifester I know works off wisdom. Anyway, I think CPsi has the Lucid Cenobyte, or something of that sort, that boosted existing progression. The Talashatora feat solves the issue quite well too.

Has anyone tried to make a psychic monk btw? It sounds more natural than a psychic rogue, and I suppose it might use a similar (or lurk-ish, at the most) manifesting scheme.

Ardent and Divine Mind from CPsi both run off Wisdom.

Monks and Psions have a great affinity. Both are naturally meditative, and for both the power comes from channeling inner energies. In addition, I always thought that Elan would make excellent Monks and Senseis, just from the flavor of the race.

I have toyed with how I would make a Psionic Monk PrC. I would probably use Psionic Focus as a mechanism that could then be used to exploit their Ki in ways that move beyond the standard class.

Good ideas for this can be found in The Immortal Iron Fist series currently being published Mavel Comics, such as being able to empower a melee or ranged weapon with your Ki (in game mechanics, applying your unarmed damage to any weapon, so long as you remain psionically focused.

I don't know...maybe I'll sit down this weekend and whip something up.

If it helps, I'm partway working on a monk with manifester and initiator levels built in... Not sure if it'll get to see the light of day, though.

I think CPsi has the Lucid Cenobyte

Nope, it's Hyperconscious.

Hyperconscious has lucid cenobite, which is a 10 level prestige class that builds up your monk skills while also adding +manifester levels into the mix. It's kinda one sided with the flavour though; it just about only deals with lucidity ;) IE: Revealing the truth in all things.

I love it though, it's well done, and it's like cordell made a class with everything I could ever want in it for a character, so I'm a bit biased.

Ah, okay. I was sure CPsi had a monk PrC that advanced existing manifesting, and I knew about LCen, so I connected the dots. Turns out it was the wrong dots, pity :)

I'll let it slide... THIS time! ;)

There is an old prestige class in the Mind's Eye Archive called Diamond Warrior. It needs to be updated but it builds a psychic warrior into monk like character.

Athas.org has a psychic monk PrC in its PrC Appendix I release.

Interesting. I was interested in a base class variant. I have some ideas in mind, but they would make something like 1/3 of the abilities (ki strike, diamond soul) reliant on being focused, and I'm not sure if that is a good thing...

I toyed with a psionic monk once. It was sort of a cross between the psychic warrior and the psychic rogue. Like The Shaman suggested, I made some of his abilities dependent on being focused-- his increased speed, for example (which I treated as equivalent to Speed of Thought for the purpose of fulfilling prerequisites). I removed Slow Fall, and instead gave him Catfall at will as a psi-like, at a ML of 1/2 class level. I changed some of the other things to give them more of a psionic feel, but I forget exactly what I did.
