Need a little help with battlefield teleportation [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-16-07, 02:28 PM So in an upcoming adventure my PC's are going to be facing a gestalt soulknife-soulbow/psion (nomad) and to make the battle interesting I want him to basically be hopping around the battlefield. He'll have a couple rounds to prepare for the PC's, two possibly three depending. He'll start off with several lackyes, probably about five I haven't really decided yet, including a fighter with a tower shield as a shield barer to give him some cover. He'll start off the battle with greater concealing amphora already on and triggered teleport set to go off and teleport him to shadowy area of the battlefield where he can hide once a PC makes a melee attack on him. This battle is either going to take place in a large auditorium sized room of an underground prison or out in the courtyard of a fort or castle. The problem then becomes teleportation from there.

Dimension door psionic can be manifested as a move action so if he takes a standard action to attack or use a power and then manifests it to get away after revealing his position that might work for a little while but he'll quickly burn out of power points. Now I was thinking of having constructs made to resemble statues, gargoyles or what not and allowing each one of them to be able to use dimension swap x-times per day and switch positions with the leader once the PC's get within melee range. However I was wondering if any of you would have a more elegant solution that wouldn't burn power points as fast as using the augmented dimension door or require me to use the constructs?

07-16-07, 02:55 PM What level is he? If he's using Dimension Door as a move action, he's probably at least level 13. Inconstant Location would let him teleport, as a swift action, as far as he could move with a move action at the beginning of his turn. It only lasts a minute, but Extend Power could double that.

07-16-07, 03:15 PM Yes he will be level 13. Inconstant location sounds pretty good actually. Although I don't know if it'll give him the distance I want him to be able to cover, but so far sounds like the best bet.
