| JhyarelleNightwind05-02-07, 01:04 PM | Hello ladies and gentle men. I'm in need of sugestions for a Hero Nakamura build from the series "Heroes". I do understand that Hero would be a human nomad; but what powers, feats, flaws, and qwirks should said character have? Any help on this build would be apriciated. |
| fozzybear05-02-07, 01:16 PM | Scout and Ecolator(spelling) are a must as well. |
| Rageheart05-02-07, 02:02 PM | Um.. his name is Hiro, not "Hero" :P I would disagree with Fozzy's idea though, the character has no floaty type abilities (Scorn Earth) nor does he seem to be all about movement in his combat style (Skirmish) as displayed in the latest episode 1x20, "Five Years Later" Taking into account that he has some level of kendo Battōjutsu* experience, prior to warping time and space, one could assume he has a martial class of some sort as a first level dip. *"Hiro claims to have mastered Battōjutsu (Japanese swordsmanship art of drawing/attacking from a sword's sheath) in Tohoku (the earliest known location for the style), as opposed to Kendo (a more common Japanese swordsmanship style) when asked by co-character Ando in the episode "Five Years Gone." This is a reference to the anime/manga Ruroni Kenshin." I could see him as a PsiWar(2)/Nomad(X) ... as this would grant access to Martial weapons and armors like Scale and Chain and grant some Extra feats without totally stripping away his PP. |
| CantripN05-02-07, 02:13 PM | Actually, it's chapter 20... |
| InkBlot05-02-07, 02:17 PM | I've never seen the show. What can Hiro do besides teleport himself, and how far can he teleport himself? Levels (5): Ardent 1/ClassX 3/Ardent 1 Feats: Practiced Manifester Primary Mantles: Freedom, Conflict Powers: Dimension Hop, Offensive Prescience, Dimension Slide edit: I went and read the wikipedia article. I think he should be an epic level wilder. powers; 9th: timeless body, reality revision, time regression (epic expanded knowledge) 8th: psionic greater teleport, mass time hop (expanded knowledge) 7th: (used to learn retrieve) 6th: temporal acceleration, retrieve 5th: anticipatory strike 4th: psionic dimension door 3rd: time hop 2nd: (used to learn synchronicity) 1st: deceleration, skate, synchronicity If you use the mantled wilder variant (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a), choose the freedom mantle and replace skate with dimension hop at 1st level, replace synchronicity with hustle at 2nd, replace anticipatory strike with psionic teleport at 5th, and replace retrieve with anticipatory strike at 7th. Use mass time hop and time regression with some nova tricks to duplicate his time-traveling adventures. |
| CantripN05-02-07, 02:23 PM | Powers include: Teleport, Timestop, Time Travel (Future/Past), Reverse Time, Limited "Tempokinesis" (Moving Things back/forward in time, such as a Bullet back to a gun), Haste (Personal). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiro_Nakamura#Powers.2C_abilities_and_eq uipment |
| Rageheart05-02-07, 02:37 PM | Actually, it's chapter 20... My Bad. (Fixed) Powers include: Teleport, Timestop, Time Travel (Future/Past), Reverse Time, Limited "Tempokinesis" (Moving Things back/forward in time, such as a Bullet back to a gun). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiro_Nakamura#Powers.2C_abilities_and_eq uipment I don't know about the "TempoKinesis" thing... it has never been officially explained. As it only happened the one time. My take on that situation is that he basiclly forced a sideways shift to a time/space where the gun misfired. (In game terms you could say he made her reroll her attack and she critically fumbled the reroll.) |

I think the only way to duplicate these abilities is with epic levels, and the narrow focus of his power plus his inability to completely control them makes him an archetypal Wilder. |

(In game terms you could say he made her reroll her attack and she critically fumbled the reroll.) Well, he also claimed to make a train late by 13 seconds and we've seen him move a clock a second backwards in time... |
| Rageheart05-02-07, 02:51 PM | good point... not sure I agree that the same thing that happened with Hope and her gun, but it is possible I guess :D |
| JhyarelleNightwind05-02-07, 05:08 PM | Thanks guys this a big help to me as I look forward to playing this character in a game. I'm still trying to convince the GM to put this in moderm d20 game as the character seems more playable in that type of setting. He quotes that he wants to make a "Heroes" type game in d20. I highly doubt that in playing in a D&D setting would make the charater and theme of the game work, as powers and spells are all over the place makes any palyer feel like thier own characters and powers are lacking. Mabe you guys can shed some light in convinceing him. |
| Rageheart05-02-07, 05:13 PM | there is a "Using 3.5 Psionics in D20 Modern" guide somewhere... Look at this thread: HERE (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=792753) |
| BadCatMan05-02-07, 10:33 PM | He can teleport around the world, pause time and travel through time. But he'd still really only be low-level. Non-D&D stuff tends to have a few really cool powers that would be quite powerful in D&D, but little else that a high-level character would have. Anyway... some combo of: Expert - geek skills Nomad, Zerth Cenobite - time-hopping psychic powers Monk/Ninja/Rogue/something else ninja-ery - he wears black, he's clearly a ninja |
| Rageheart05-02-07, 11:54 PM | ... Monk/Ninja/Rogue/something else ninja-ery - he wears black, he's clearly a ninja OMG so does Sylar.... it must be a ninja rivalry! :rolleyes::cool: |
| BadCatMan05-02-07, 11:59 PM | And he carries a katana, and fades in and out of shadows (future Hiro did anyway). |
| InkBlot05-03-07, 01:56 AM | A katana is just a bastard sword. One exotic weapon proficiency feat and you're set. Fading in and out of shadows is just for dramatic effect. Step into a shadowy area, make a hide check, manifest dimension door. |
| Rageheart05-03-07, 02:02 AM | Well that puts Paid to that then.... Ninjas don't use Katanas, they use Ninja-To. (http://www.entertheninja.com/ninja_fact/weapons.php) :D |
