| TheBeardedElf07-12-07, 01:56 AM | It appears to me that the Ardent can have known any power for which he has the power points for regardless of the level of the power. Is this true? Can my 2nd level Ardent with 8 power points learn Time hop a 3rd level power because it only costs 5 to manifest? I searched back several pages and didn't see anything about this, if there is already a thread about this could someone point me to it? |

Not have a total amount of power points. An example is Ardent 1/Fighter 4 with practiced Manifester can gain when level up as an Ardent a 3rd level power: why? (first level you stuck with 1st level powers no higher). After 1st level, you are only limited by manifester level. Heck, you could at level 4 straight ardent with overchannel can choose 3rd level powers (but you'd only be able to use it when overchannel). So it can be good or bad. |
| AntiDjinn07-12-07, 02:02 AM | He must be able to manifest the power to learn it. At second level his manifester level is 2 so he can spend up to two points on a single manifestation: He can only know powers up to 1st level at this point. An ardent can only select powers off his chosen mantles and he doesn't automatically learn all applicable powers that he would be able to manifest; the table on page 6 of Comp Psi lists how many powers an ardent of any given level can know. |
| TheBeardedElf07-12-07, 08:32 AM | Thanks, I wasn't sure because the other psionic manifester classes all have a Maximum Power Level Known column. since this isn't listed here, would it be half manifesting levels much like spell casters and spell levels? |
| Bacris07-12-07, 09:02 AM | No, because then you're always going to be .5 off (half of 1 is .5, so you technically wouldn't be able to learn your 1st level powers...). Better would be to add 1 to your ML and then divide by half - same way power point cost is related to power level. (I.e. 5th level ardent = 6/2 = 3rd level powers) |
