hello all,

new to psionics in 3e (having loved them in 2e) and i'm confused about assigning bonus power points upon level up. on page 18 of the expanded psionics handbook, table 2-1, it shows a 6th level manifester with a 20 intelligence should recieve 15 extra points, whereas last level, he recieved less than that.

i'm wondering: do i add up all of the values across the table, like 12 bonus at 5th, 15 at 6th and so on? or is that their static bonus and it only goes up a small amount each level?

the in-book example seems to indicate that you merely add all of the numbers as they occur from left to right - this seems like someone's bonus would easily overshadow their actual class-based points.

thanks in advance! :)

It's not cumulative. The bonus for that level / stat is the total bonus.

Or you can use the formula listed - Key Ability Modifier x Manifester level x .5

Incidentally, this was answered in the FAQ at the top of the forum.

Your bonus points are cumulative (you have what you had last level, plus more) but the table is not; in the bonus power point table the math has already been done for you. Cross reference stat and level and there is your answer. No more adding numbers accross the row as was done in 3.0 (a major pain for a DM making lots of psionic NPCs).
