Subtle Knife

I'm building my first Telepath (Kalashtar), and looking for different strategies by which I can make his abilities useful! There are two methods I can think of:
1) increasing the DC of the abilities
- increasing character intelligence
- augmenting power (for those powers that increase DC with augmentation)
2) decreasing the resistances of your enemies

My question centers around the latter - does anyone know good ways to impair the Will saves of your enemies? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Destiny dissonance causes sickening. -2 to saves, among other things.

Anyways, no matter how powerful your mind-affecting powers are, you're going to need something to deal with undead and other creatures immune to mind-affecting effects and with high spell resistance. Concussion blast and crystal shard are good fallback powers.

Here are a few ideas:

Feats:

Psionic Endowment
You can endow your manifestations with more concentrated focus.

To use this feat, you must expend your psionic focus. You add 1 to the save DC of a power you manifest.

Greater Psionic Endowment
You can use meditation to focus your powers.

Prerequisite - Psionic Endowment.

When you use the Psionic Endowment feat, you add +2 to the save DC of a power you manifest instead of +1.

You need to expend your psionic focus to do this so you may want to take Psionic Meditation to allow you to expend your focus every round.

Psionic Meditation

You can focus your mind faster than normal, even under duress.

Prerequisite - Wis 13, Concentration 7 ranks.

You can take a move action to become psionically focused.

Powers

For a +2 on every DC how about (you'll need to use the Expanded Knowledge feat to get this):

Animal Affinity
Psychometabolism
Level: Egoist 2, psychic warrior 2
Display: Material
Manifesting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 min./level
Power Points: 3

You forge a psychometabolic affinity with an idealized animal form, thereby boosting one of your ability scores (choose either Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma). The power grants a +4 enhancement bonus to the ability score you choose, adding the usual benefits provided by a high ability bonus. Because you are emulating the idealized form of an animal, you also take on minor aspects of the animal you choose. If you choose to increase the ability you use to manifest powers, you do not gain the benefit of an increased ability score long enough to gain any bonus power points for a high ability score, but the save DCs of your powers increase for the duration of this power.
Augment

For every 5 additional power points you spend, this power grants a +4 enhancement bonus to another ability.

Primal Fear

As you're playing a Kalashtar, hopefully you have access to powers from Races of Eberron. If so, Primal Fear is a must. Manifests as a swift action (meaning you can fire it off the same round just before your selected power), no save, no power or spell resist, duration 1 round, and all for only 1 pp per victim! Victims are shaken, which is -2 to all saves.

A 5th level telepath (the lowest level you could use Expanded Knowledge to get Animal Affinity) with an 18 Int could therefore manifest Psionic Charm with a (Base = 10, power level +1, INT = +4, Animal Affinity +2, Greater Psionic Endowment +2) = DC 19. Primal Fear reduces the save (ie raises the DC) by another 2 to 21.

Hope that helps

One thing often overlooked that can boost DC etc. is Incarnum. If you look at this Mind's Eye article: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20060217a

Scroll to the bottom and you'll see the the Charming Veil soulmeld. Very nice! The Chakra binds at later levels will grant you Read Thoughts once/round at will. Fun! The prestige class looks very interesting as well!
