| Tempest Stormwind05-09-07, 09:38 PM | Yes. You need to manifest the power once per day each day you spend creating the object. See the rules on creating psicrowns (or indeed, anything). Furthermore, if you are not a shaper, an ardent or divine mind with access to the Creation mantle, or a manifester without Expanded Knowledge (Astral Construct), you will not be able to USE the psicrown of the astral legion, as it uses a power trigger activation method, which only works if the power in question is on your class list. Astral Construct is limited to the characters mentioned earlier. Do note that the Psicrown of the Astral Legion is mis-priced; it seems like it was created back when Astral Construct was a chain of powers. |
| AntiDjinn05-09-07, 10:01 PM | If you are planning to make the psicrown to sell for profit rather than for your own use, then you can do the Psychic Reformation/Expanded Knowledge flip-flop; you only need the power while you are crafting if the item is for someone else's use. Alternately, you could just call in someone else who knows the power and use the rules in the XPH for manifesting the power from another character's powers known to meet the requirement to be able to manifest it daily. Unless you are calling in a favor or otherwise can get this service for free, it is really going to cut into your profit margin because that other manifester has to be there the entire time you are crafting the item. |
| RavinRay05-10-07, 01:18 AM | Then can an erudite crafting that psicrown then "borrow" astral construct from a willing shaper as needed then immediately manifest it to imbue into the psicrown (let's just say he's eccentric and wants to claim that he crafted it himself and didn't get someone else to manifest astral construct for him)? |
| AntiDjinn05-10-07, 03:02 AM | If an erudite is going to "borrow" one manifestation of a power then he might as well spend the 20 XP per level to permanently add it to his repertoire. The subject from whom he learns the power will most likely charge him (Comp. Psi says 50 gp per power level, or much higher depending how well they get along) but that will still be less than paying someone to be present for 24 days or so and manifest a given power (or allow you to manifest it through them) every day. |
| Racinante05-10-07, 10:34 AM | Do note that the Psicrown of the Astral Legion is mis-priced; it seems like it was created back when Astral Construct was a chain of powers. Actually... Astral Legion: This psicrown has 900 power points. It is made from white silk interwoven with crystalline strands of thread. It allows use of the following power. * Astral construct Strong metacreativity; ML 18th; Craft Psicrown, astral construct; Price 47,250 gp. Cost: 18 ML x 7 PL x 375 (Power level must be raised to the max castable by an 18-5 = 13th level manifester = 7) From a costing standpoint the psicrown costs half as much as a staff, but it also takes up the headband slot. |
