Psicrystal + tattoo [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-26-08, 03:09 PM Could your psicrystal activate a psionic tattoo? Considering it is intelligent, can move, and communicate with the psion - I cant think of any reason why it couldn't.

This came up in a game where a unconscious PC with a body adjustment tattoo said his psicrytal would activate his tattoo. I ruled that it was ok to do this...

Still later I considered if this is legal...then

When the player is conscious - can the psicrystal still activate a tattoo? In other words whose action would it be? Can the crystal essentially take the standard action to activate the tattoo = leaving the wearer of the tattoo free to do something else?

A character can trigger the effects of another’s psionic tattoo if the other wearer is unconscious. It is a full-round action to find, touch, and concentrate on an unconscious creature’s tattoo in order to tap it.

So no, it seems you can only activate tattoes that are on yourself, or on an unconcous person.

03-26-08, 05:47 PM What about scribing tattoos on the psicrystal? I was going to say that would work nicely with the share powers ability, but doesn't work as written. Still, it seems like a legitimate option for other tattoos that would benefit the psicrystal.

03-26-08, 07:09 PM Since the Psicrystal is corporeal, you can put tattoos on it, and it ought to be able to activate tattoos it's wearing.

The only time it should be able to activate a tattoo on another creature is when the creature wearing it is unconscious-- exactly what happened in the game described above.

So you could scribe tattoos on the psicrystal and it could transfer them to you then use them on you, although that would require two rounds of actions.

Question: How many legs does a psicrystal have ??
Question: Can it still move while it is tapping ??
Question: Would it need a Balance check if it just has two legs to balance ??
Question: If it was Climbing at the time, what would the penalty be on the Climb check ??
Question: Could it still use one leg, to use sign language to the Psion that it is very confused ??

Another thought is to get an elemental envoy an give it 20 psionic tatoos & Crawling tatoos.
