The Pious Psion is a psionic individual who views his psionic gifts not as innate or inherited traits, but as divine gifts. He is a divine emmisary of his patron diety and walks a two-fold path of psionics and divine magic.

All Pious Psion gives up her discipline class feature, her bonus feats at 1st and 10th level. In all other ways (except as noted), the pious psion is identical to the psion base class.

Class skills: The pious psion’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomancy (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (all skills, taken individually) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Psicraft (Int).

Psionic Domain: Rather than focusing on a specific discipline of psionics at 1st level, a pious psion chooses to devote his focus to learning to harness the divine might of his chosen diety. This class feature is identical to the cleric class feature except as follows:

To determine the maximum level of a domain spell, a pious psion must have Intelligence equal to 10+Spell level rather than Wisdom.
Although they are cast as divine spells, the pious psion gains no effective divine spellcasting level. In all references to caster level, use the pious psion's manifester level instead.
The save DC against the pious psion's domain spells is based on Intelligence rather than charisma.
The use these divine spells he must expend power points as though it were a power of the same level.
A pious psion may only use his domain spells 1/day for each level.
For any spell or domain power that uses cleric level, substitute pious psion level instead.
Any domain power that would apply to spell descriptors also applies to psionic powers the pious psion manifests of the same descriptors.
If a pious psion later gains or previously had any levels in cleric, the two abilities are not interchangable. A multiclass pious psion/cleric may not use her cleric domains' spells for her psionic damage ability, nor may she prepare spells from her psionic domain as a cleric. If she selects the same domain for both classes she stacks both classes' levels in regards to that domain's power.
If the domain spell requires a costly material component, she instead pays 1/5 the GP cost in XP.

Example: Xavier is a 3rd level pious psion of Kord, with War as his chosen psionic domain. 1/day he may spend 1 power point to cast Magic Weapon as a divine spell and 1/day he may spend 3 power points to cast Spiritual Weapon as a divine spell. He also knows 6 other powers and may manifest them normally.

Sever the Tie (Su): At 3rd level pious psion gains insight into cutting undead's tie to the negative energy plane. 1/day as a standard action, a pious psion may expend her psionic focus to deal 2d6 points of damage to each undead creature within 30 feet of the pious psion. For every 3 levels after 3rd, add 1d6 to this damage.

Bonus Domain: At 10th level, a pious psion gains another domain from her diety's list and gains all benefits of the domain. She may use any of that domain's spells with her psionic domain ability, but is still limited to only 1 use of each spell level per day.

For instance, does a pious psion with the death domain get to animate dead without spending any onyx? Or do they have psionic powers with "material components?"

10-13-07, 07:19 PM If you have the Complete Psionic, you'd know instead of domains, psionic characters use mantles which are basically psionic-equivalent of domains.

Hey! The Ardent was one of the finest things in that book! I know it's not saying much, but between that and the Erudite, the book's worth something - it's just overshadowed by the horrible material like the Astral Construct nerfs and Illithid Heritage.

I suppose, in light of the "spell to power" erudite debacle, the immediate question is: what about domain spells with expensive material components? For instance, does a pious psion with the death domain get to animate dead without spending any onyx? Or do they have psionic powers with "material components?"

I think the rule with Psionics is that you pay 1/5th of the cost in XP. So each HD would be 20xp.

(more useful for raising the dead, too. I'd rather spend 1000xp than use 5000gp worth of diamonds :P)

Don't dis the Ardent man. The book was half good, half crap. I'm ignoring the crap such as the nerfed powers.

10-15-07, 07:28 AM Wow!!!11 Complete Psionic being defended on the psionics board, the devils balls must be COLD!!!!!!!11111!!!!!!!!!! Sure the ardent and erusrite arent total trash, or a couple feats like PM but I stand by my statement. The Complete Psionic is all nerfs and garbage and filler because making 4th edition was more important that writing quality books for 3.5 . Complete scoundrel and TOB were the only decent books put out in over 2 years and that was because they were flying 4th edition ideas in them. Psionics one more time is going to get the shaft by card playing idiots.
