| The_Mess01-25-08, 08:17 PM | Well, I don't own it and haven't used it, so I can't comment on the class, but the advertising text is amusing. Isn’t that the description of the psychic warrior?”Actually, no. In the family of psionic classes, the psychic warrior really fills the position of the cleric more than it does, say, the paladin or other spell-using fighters. It’s got a d8 Hit Die and a mid-level base attack progression. So, they declare it's not like the psychic warrior and then give as examples two features that are identical to the psychic warrior! And while it lacks access to the highest levels of psionic powers, it’s got a lot more than the equivalent of the four levels-worth of spells allotted to the paladin or the ranger. And that description also describes the psychic warrior. So, it's very different, but we're not going to tell you how! |

That descriptive line is about the psychic warrior. :) Honestly, I wanted to like the class, but it seems a bit back-loaded to me. The first level ability is only effective against creatures that actually use power points and is only useful once per day. Given how Tempest crafted the Marksman and it's a full BAB class with manifesting from level 1, I'd be inclined to say this class is on the weaker end of the spectrum, but I haven't played one, so I can't say definitively. It does appear weaker than the ranger. |
