Well, maybe not really a puzzle, but an interesting question. Anything that is made with this power (or the arcane equivalent) is temporary, right? And apparently, alcoholic drinks can be made with this power/spell.

So, assume you give this drink to someone and he gets drunk on it. Does he suddenly sober up when the duration runs out? I can imagine my CG psion having some fun with that. :D

Yup. That way your party can party, all night long, and nobody has to be the designated teleporter (always the psion/wizard, which sucks for him; it's no wonder everybody thinks he's a tea-totaler and a nerd).

If all the constituent atoms from your minor-creation-wine disappeared suddenly at the end of the duration, after you imbibed it, then it would do horrible things to your body.

There's no rules for it in the books, and it's horribly unrealistic any way you rule it, so just decide something with your DM and stick with it.

The other fun trick along those lines is a barrel of water and prestidigitation - flavour the water into the finest wine.

(or mixing the two : a barrel of lotus poison flavoured to wine ;) )

The nice thing about Mini creation is it's dispellable, which means that if a fight breaks out (and you pass the intelligence / wisdom check) you can sober up straight away.

My general rule is that if it lasts 8 hours or longer (a rough estimate of how long it takes to completely digest most types of food), you can eat it and by the time it would run out, it's been transformed into something else and isn't dangerous when it fades (i.e. what fades is the waste, not part of your body). This is a bit of a kluge, but it keeps things simple.

My reasoning behind this is simplicity, really -- and consistency. If I create firewood or vegetable/palm oil and set it on fire, by the time the duration's run out you've already got what you made it for and the waste is all that's left.

Plus, by level 8 (or 4 if you want to Extend it), food really isn't that big of a concern even to parties that track it.

as Tempest, i rule that so long as the duration is 8 hrs or longer, the substance has it's normal properties when consumed/used up

(i have a poison/drug crafter psion in my current game, she makes massive amounts of food and booze quite frequently, so this just makes it easier to keep track of)

it does give a little more utility to minorcreation, but meh, its a 1st lvl shaper power that is situational.

and metacreativity is cool anyways
