what books are allowed?

there are quite a few out there in various books...

Also, what type of campaign and what type of psion do you play?

Define "the two psionic books". If one of them is the 3.0 Psionics Handbook, ignore it. Otherwise pain will be involved.

The list of stuff outside the XPH is available here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10507404&postcount=106). Let's see...off the top of my head, Constructor, Subverted Psion [both Mind's Eye], Iron Mind [Races of Stone], Sanctified Mind [Lords of Madness], and Anarchic Initiate [Complete Psionic] are all good. (Though AI is generally derided for being a "no contest PrC" in terms of deciding whether to take it.)

Check out my Plasmodermist PrC on this board. It's also in the Prestige Class Forum under Plasmoderm.

slayer (10 levels)- the generic version of the Illithid Slayer from XPH, gives full BAB and 9/10 ML progression. Choose your own favored enemy

sanctified mind (6 levels, Lords of Madness)- full BAB, 2 good saves, 5/6 ML progression, and some decent class features.

elocator- I know you mentioned it as one you didn't like but it's really, really fun to play. You walk on the walls and ceilings, across rivers and lakes. You get places you were never supposed to go.

I think there's iron mind from Races of Stone but I don't remember liking it much.
