Few questions guys and girls, and I know this is the right place to ask them ;)

Is there any way to gain Sneak Attack through Psionics without resorting to the Lurk? Like a power of some sort that grants bonus damage in similar circumstances or the like? Something representing precision damage.

Are there any ways to have a psionic form of Invisibility without manifesting Cloud Mind/Mass on every target who could see you?

And one more; are there any races that could possibly resemble the Protoss from Starcraft? As you can tell by my name, I'm extremely fond of one particular Protoss Dark Templar, yet I've never even tried to create him in the game...

Any help you can give would be great.

Thanks
ZC

The only other psionic sneak attacker is the Psychic Rogue, who can enhance a normal sneak attack with a psychic one at higher levels. You can find it here:

Hmm I see, link's to Psi Assassin too...interesting. Thanks for that. :)

Any ideas on the other two questions?

Soulknives also get psychic strike damage. That might fit thematically, but it requires a charge up and works differently than sneak attack. I don't have an answer on the invisibility question. My gut reaction for picking a race would be Xeph, based almost solely on appearance. Using the Hidden Talent variant soulknife, you could even pick up mindlink or similar for flavor.

On the other hand, I think the Mind's Eye had a psychic warrior variantion to get a soul-bound weapon. That might be a much better route to take.

Soulknife gets the energy blades down perfect. It would probably get mixed with something else that has a manifesting ability, however. Yay multiclass.

Xeph, however, is a bit of an odd choice...compare these two;

Dromite gets a bit closer: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/xph_gallery/80489.jpg

But unfortunately is still kinda off, being small size among other things.

I looked at the Hidden Talent soulknife ability just now, it's pretty cool and could really do it, but it doesn't gain the PP required to more or less just talk that way the entire day.

duergar get a psionic invisibility that works just like the spell.

alternately, if you use DSP materials, there's a power that is very similar to invisibility iirc.

I found Bend Light in Mind Unveiled: Morphean. It's a Morphean or shaper 4 power, but would be excellent for what you are trying to capture.

Hmm, I've never heard of that book. Is there an open source for it or something like the SRD?

What are DSP materials? I've not heard of them...I'm assuming it's some 3rd party book.

Dreamscarred Press (http://dreamscarredpress.com/dragonfly), home of lots of psionic sweetness

Yes, it's funny; it seems that any time ANYONE asks a question around here, they're funneled to Dreamscarred Press.

I guess that's because they're pretty much the only source for psionics stuff anymore. Hyperconscious, the XPH, and CPsi is pretty much it outside of DSP, and they put out so much quality work over so many different areas.

They are the psionic gods (or god-minds, if you prefer). :)

And that's why sales have dropped down to nigh-nothing...

And I can't get my revision published...

I might buy it if I can get past my DM's psionics-phobia. It doesn't look like our group will be making the jump to 4e.

It's not all that funny to me, all things considered. When we brainstorm new ideas, a lot of times, the most frequently asked questions of "Can I do this with psionics?" are the ones where we try to fill in the gaps. :) (If it fits thematically, that is)

Alternatively, it's because we are regular board members and when those questions do get asked, we immediately start thinking about HOW to make that work, and it progresses from there.

But yeah, 4E has been a major downer. :(

I've been hearing numerous complaints from people I've talked to that since 4e made its news-debut, gaming stores all around are about to go out of business (the 3.5 stuff isn't selling at all anymore, even with buy one get one, 1/2 off, and even 3/4 off the cover price); mom-and-pop gaming stores just can't stay in business and are starting to close down.

Hooray for the geniuses who got their business degrees from a pop-top cereal box. :weep:

Seems like Wizards did its job ruthlessly then, by eliminating the competition in such a way, they ensure themselves 100% of the market.

Unless of course, all those other stores buy their books in mass from Wizards itself, in which case...GG? Lose profits and **** people off...

The World of Darkness continuity reboot probably didn't help either.

All games release new editions at some time. I think the problem with 4e is they have not left it long enough from the release of the last material before the release of the next edition. Myself, though, if I see any 1/2 off 3.5 material I don't yet have I may snap it up ...
