I want to make a psionic character that fights unarmed, mostly because psionic powers fit in well with the idea of ki/chi. I was just wondering the best way to do this? I'm not very well versed with psionic stuff so any help would be appreciated. Oh, and I only have access to the expanded psionics handbook and complete psionic (all I could get from the library), and it is not likely I will be able to use anything else.

Those are all the books you'd need.

Psychic Warrior is probably the best bet for a single class, otherwise go monk/Fist of Zuoken (XPH). An ardent is likely to be able to do it as well, but those are tricky to work with by comparison and to my knowledge haven't been tested unarmed.

Are you playing in Eberron, by the way? There's a lot of great options there, particularly for Kalashtar monks.

We play in Forgotten Realms, but I'll have to take a look at Kalashtar monks.

As for the monk/fist of zuoken, that looks awesome I'll have to try it out. Thanks for the help.

Kalashtar are the only race that have monk substitution levels that apply their natural psionic ability into their unarmed skill. They also have the best feats for psionic monks -- Talashantora is far and away the star of that show, enabling things like this (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=11564698&postcount=154).

I actually like Monk/Warmind better than Monk/Psionic Fist. If you get a monk's belt, you don't lose that much unarmed damage, and the class features of Warmind are better.

How about something like this:
Xeph Monk3/PsyWar2/Warmind8/Elocater7

1 PsyW1 Combat Expertise, Improved Trip (b)
2 Monk1 IUS (b), Stunning Fist (b)
3 Monk2 Expeditions Dodge, Combat Reflexes (b)
4 Monk3
5 PW2 Mobility
6 Warmind1 Spring Attack
7 Elocater1 Sidestep Charge (b)
8 El2
9 El3 Elusive Target
10 El4
11 El5
12 El6 Sun School
13 El7
14 Wm2
15 Wm3 Mage Slayer
16 Wm4
17 Wm5
18 Wm6 Pierce Magical Protection
19 Wm7
20 Wm8

There are similiar builds in the Warmind/Elocater link in my sig. Since you're in the Realms, you might use one of the versions with Shou Disciple levels, if you can get your hands on the Unapproachable East book. You can find most of the feats here (http://www.crystalkeep.com).

Nice build, Phae. How about writing a story so it makes sense to play?

Zerth Cenobite's a pretty fun psionic monk prestige class. Most of its specials are once a day, but couple it with a good power selection, a pair of nunchaku, and Improved Disarm and it's a lot of fun.

I had a drow monk/cenobite NPC once that spent an entire evening frustrating my players. Eventually, all but one of the PCs were knocked out with subdual damage. The barbarian/dwarven defender had had every single weapon and his shield taken from him. He and the monk were both down to single-digit hit points. The monk flurried and missed. The dwarf's player remembered that his character was wearing spiked gauntlets.

POW. "Zzz."

Damn, was that an epic night.

Two notes about Tashalatora:
1) It's not spelled Talashantora. :P
2) It's open to everyone, kalashtar or not. I just made my dude kalashtar since the sub levels made qualifying for Warmind much easier.

also......with 3 Feats:

Carmondine Monk
Monastic training(bonus feat from Monk 1)
Tashalatora

these will allow a single Psionic Class or PrC to advance unarmed damage, AC, Flurry of Blows.

to make the most use a 10 lvl PrC ....preferably with Full BAB(Slayer,Warmind)

Monk 1/ Psion 1/ Slayer 10

gives 5th lvl Psion powers and Allows to to have 11th lvl monk abilities(some)
ALL based on Int

:D

I think y'all are missing an important statement here.

I think y'all are missing an important statement here.Everything in my build is from those books, except some of the feats, which are wholly replaceable. They are also available at www.crystalkeep.com.
Nice build, Phae. How about writing a story so it makes sense to play? It's a concept, not a character. If you want to make an actual character based on it, make your own story up. I'd think that part would be better left to whoever is actually playing it.

In practice, characters rarely wind up as originally planned, IMX. The actual feats and class levels you wind up taking will be influenced by the game, and the character's experiences as it develops.
