| killface08-14-07, 12:51 PM | im sort of...erm new to psionics and was woundering about somthing......i look at the standard character sheets and they say that they are suitable for all characters but i was wondering where exactly i put my psionic ability list? do i just list them in the spells section or what? thanks for all your help! (if anyoner replys):D |
| jbsaff08-14-07, 01:15 PM | There are other character sheets for Psionic characters, see here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/charactersheets). These are tailored to the psionic classes, including skill list and power list areas. |
| InkBlot08-14-07, 01:24 PM | I usually just write my powers know, power points, and save DC on a seperate peice of notebook paper. I was working on a nice psionics sheet for a new character, because I find the WotC psionics sheet to be lacking. It's almost done, but I stopped working on it when I decided to play a binder (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060303a&page=2) instead of a psion. I guess I could finish it up real fast. |
| killface08-14-07, 02:05 PM | cool! im really just a newb to the game all in all...i baught all three of the core rule books while i had some cash laying around and then i once made a necromancer and a warlock but i lost their sheets so now im trying a psion... |
| Tempest Stormwind08-14-07, 02:18 PM | WotC's own sheets suck. Want to play a nonstandard class? How about a multiclass character? Where do you record these things? Oh, wait, you can't. Instead, I'd suggest a generic sheet, such as those that can be found at The Mad Irishman's (http://www.mad-irishman.net). I've been using the same sheet of his since about 2004, for everything from PHB classes to psions to Tome of Battle adepts to characters from games with variant rules from Unearthed Arcana. All the same sheet. Interestingly, the design is almost unchanged from his preview sheets from when Paizo previewed third edition back in 2000. And it's still superior to anything WotC's put out. I should also note that there are others out there as well (Ema's in particular), but MI's the one I use when I'm not gaming over OpenRPG (where I use my own nodes). |
| killface08-14-07, 02:45 PM | thanks for the tip i was just looking at some from mad irishman site and they seem to be a bit more complete than the ones i have found here! :) |
| killface08-14-07, 02:58 PM | wait one more question, what character sheet off mad irishman do you reccomend im looking at this one titled old school? |
| Tempest Stormwind08-14-07, 03:06 PM | Use whichever you like. I use either the newest version of his main sheet (2.3, I believe) or his First Edition Feel sheet (if I'm trying to be nostalgic or save paper). Alternatively, I use his two-page d20 System sheet for pretty much everything else, since it works for everything from Star Wars to d20 Modern to D&D. |
| CrimsonDeath08-14-07, 03:31 PM | WotC's own sheets suck. No kidding. Once, in game, I uttered the phrase "I can't find my hit points." Ever since, I've just made my own sheets on notebook paper. |
| sijigs08-14-07, 06:36 PM | I just typed my own one up. Faster that way. |
| killface08-15-07, 04:29 PM | well im not too good with computers...:( so typing my own up isent really an option for me but i found a few online that if i put them togeather they are useable...but umm why cant somone just make a totally complete char. sheet somewhere lol! |

Because the rules change too often to update. That's why if you want one that's completely flexible, use blank sheets and write your own in. Which is what I did here (http://www.telusplanet.net/~sdupuis/Tempest/ASCII%20Sheet.txt). It's not the greatest, and it's not the one I use, but it's there. |

| Tempest Stormwind08-15-07, 06:17 PM | Cool sheet - but just wanna ask... What is the "hand" entry for? :D Handedness. Doesn't really matter in 3.5 rules, but matters in terms of description. Just like the vast majority of that column. |
| sijigs08-15-07, 07:12 PM | Ah now I remember.. thanks. Remnants of 3.0, if I remember correctly. |
| CrimsonDeath08-15-07, 09:03 PM | Ah now I remember.. thanks. Remnants of 3.0, if I remember correctly. Not sure if handedness ever mattered in 3rd. It may have mattered in 2nd. I remember that Caramon Majere (from the Dragonlance) novels was left-handed, but I'm not sure if anything ever came of it. |
| Tempest Stormwind08-15-07, 09:38 PM | Not sure if handedness ever mattered in 3rd. It may have mattered in 2nd. I remember that Caramon Majere (from the Dragonlance) novels was left-handed, but I'm not sure if anything ever came of it. The only distinction that ever matters in either edition is main-hand/off-hand. Whether the main is left or right is purely descriptive in both. |
| sijigs08-15-07, 10:44 PM | Oh it mattered alright... PC: okay I pick up the potion. DM: which hand do you pick up with? PC: what? right, of course. DM: ok at that instant you get attacked.. and get the off-hand penalty PC: but.. i'm left handed. DM: where does it say that on your sheet? everyone knows at least 80% of people are right handed! PC: uh.... |
| Tempest Stormwind08-15-07, 11:08 PM | Similar story: "I open the door." "Do you turn the handle clockwise, or counterclockwise?" (This led to a long series of arguments, seeing as the dungeon was trapped in ways that would make anyone go nuts. Eventually, it came down to "are you right-handed or left-handed?" because people twist the handles by default in different directions.) |
