Psionics, Couatls, and the Silver Flame [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-09-07, 12:02 AM Couatls are noted for their psionic talents. The Silver Flame is basically made up of amalgamated Couatl essence. Do you ever wonder whether this might lead the Silver Flame to have some association with psionics? For example, maybe a Thranish boy has a vision of Tira Miron saying "The Silver Flame wants YOU to fight evil," and then goes on to find that he has mysterious psionic talents, and eventually becomes an LG psychic warrior? Would psychic warriors and divine minds, etc, be found among the Church of the Silver Flame's templars? Would ardents and psions be found among their clergy?

One idea that I've posted before is the idea of a soulknife/soulbow/cleric/exorcist of the Silver Flame, who designates her soulbow as her weapon of the exorcist. (exorcists of the Silver Flame get enhancements to their weapons, getting flaming, sacred, lawful, silvered etc, damage) It seems to go well, with the Silver Flame's affinity for archery.

Any other ideas, though?

Then again, we've never really seen much about Thranish as being a psionic people, or about any connection between the Church of the Silver Flame and psionics in general, so it's possible taht I'm just making connections here that have no real justification. Maybe all of the psionics of the Couatls was lost when they were converted into the Silver Flame? Or perhaps to whatever extent the Couatl's are psionic, it has no impact on the religion, because there's no way that the Couatl's collective psi-essence can really "touch" a devout believer in the Flame awaken a wild talent or anything, so it's not really relevant to the religion as practiced in Khorvaire?

04-09-07, 01:03 AM Absofrigginlutely. However, such an individual would be considered to have more... unorthodox methods of channeling divine power. In Eberron, psionics is supposed to be tied to dreams, but this is a fine exception.

Keep in mind that a fair number of psionic powers are elemental. Wielding the Silver Flame itself might be blasphemous to some, but noone can deny that it's very good at cleansing indelible taint.

04-09-07, 02:09 AM I'm terribly sorry, but if their main monmeymakers(exocist of the silver flame) BATHE in the silver flame(I.e. pass me the astral loupha), I doubt that anyone is gonna be rasing khyber over someone throwing it around
